Responsibilities

Role Responsibilities

• Support the vision and guide a team of engineers to build and support digital products and services (DPS) across S&T core priorities
• Drive partnerships with User Experience, Product Management, IT, Data & Analytics, Emerging Tech, Innovation, and Process Engineering teams to deliver the Digital Products portfolio
• Develop software development strategy utilizing industry standards. Create roadmap and timing of implementation of the roadmap based on business requirements and strategy.
• Lead multi-discipline, high-performance work teams distributed across remote locations effectively. Build, manage, develop, and mentor a team of engineers.
• Interact with executives across the company to lead the narrative around software engineering
• Develop and expand PSE capabilities through a customer obsessed, services-driven digital solutions platform that leverages data and AI to deliver automated and personalized experiences
• Manage and appropriately escalate delivery impediments, risks, issues, and changes tied to the engineering initiatives to the stakeholders
• Interact with key business partners to recommend solutions that best meet the strategic needs of the business

Minimum Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field
• 8+ years of relevant software development.
• Commanding knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
• Strong system design fundamentals with a focus on performance and extensibility, and experience building distributed scalable systems.
• Expertise in Java and its related technologies. Restful or GraphQL API (preferred) experience.
• Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, React or React Native or related frameworks.
• Experience developing iOS and/or Android mobile apps.
• Experience with large scale messaging systems such as Kafka is a bonus.
• Hands on experience with any cloud platform such as AWS or GCP or Azure (preferred).
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL and Cosmos DB.
• Experience with observability practices and tooling (logging, metrics, tracing and monitoring) for production systems.
• AI for engineering: experience using coding agents and review agents, and optimizing token usage.
• Applied AI: experience building AI agents and orchestration (LangGraph/LangChain/Langfuse), RAG, vector databases and embeddings.
• Experience with OCR, vision/YOLO models, extraction models (LlamaParse/LlamaExtract or similar), speech-to-text (STT) and summarization; experience with on-device SLMs is a plus.
