At Proximo, the UK’s leading provider of specialist and adapted replacement vehicles, we’re dedicated to keeping people on the move. Behind our service is a team of great people, and we’re just as committed to supporting our colleagues and ensuring they have the right people processes in place.
We’re recruiting for a Group Payroll Administrator to join our HR team. This is an important role within the business, with responsibility for supporting the delivery of an accurate, compliant and timely payroll service across all companies within the Proximo Group.
You'll be a key point of contact for payroll-related queries, helping colleagues with questions about their pay, payslips, tax codes and working hours. Working closely with our external payroll provider, as well as our HR and Finance teams, you'll help ensure payroll is processed accurately and efficiently, with everything completed in line with company policies, statutory requirements and deadlines.
If you have previous payroll administration experience, ideally with exposure to processing monthly or end-to-end payroll, this could be a great opportunity to bring your experience into a growing business. You'll need to be organised, confident working with numbers and comfortable handling confidential information, with a strong eye for detail and a proactive approach to resolving queries.
What you'll be doing
- Take responsibility for payroll administration across all companies within the Proximo Group, ensuring information is accurate and deadlines are met.
- Act as the first point of contact for payroll-related queries from colleagues, providing helpful and timely responses to questions about payslips, tax codes, missing hours and pay.
- Liaise with our external payroll provider to coordinate and support the monthly payroll process.
- Manage payroll administration for all new starters and leavers, ensuring the correct information and documentation is provided.
- Process payroll changes for existing colleagues, including salary and contractual changes, promotions, overtime, bonuses and deductions.
- Input, update and maintain employee payroll records, including personal details and bank information, ensuring all data is accurate and up to date.
- Collect and check timesheets, shift patterns, overtime and commission information ahead of payroll processing.
- Support the administration of workplace pensions, including auto-enrolment and any ongoing changes.
- Maintain and develop payroll administration processes in line with changes across the Group.
- Work closely with the wider HR and Finance teams to ensure payroll information is accurate, confidential and handled appropriately.
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in payroll administration is essential, ideally with experience processing monthly or end-to-end payroll.
- Experience managing payroll changes, including starters, leavers, contractual changes, overtime, bonuses and deductions.
- An understanding of statutory payments, such as Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP), Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP) and Shared Parental Pay (ShPP).
- Knowledge of workplace pensions and auto-enrolment.
- Confidence handling payroll queries and communicating professionally with colleagues at all levels.
- Strong numerical and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately to deadlines.
- A trustworthy and professional approach, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- A proactive, solution-focused attitude, with the confidence to investigate and resolve queries.
