As a Director, Platform Engineering, you will serve as the chief technical and organizational leader, responsible for the vision, governance, talent development, and delivery of our enterprise-scale SaaS products, operating with Champion Pace. You will be a recognized executive-level subject matter expert, focusing on providing strategic thought leadership across the entire company and its external partners.

The Mission: Defining the Platform's Future

You will be the executive driver in setting the technical north star for the platform, translating the company's business strategy into a multi-year engineering roadmap, and ensuring architectural alignment across all product pillars. You will lead and mentorPrincipal-level engineers, leverage executive-level expertise in highly specialized fields to innovate at scale, and govern the development standards for cloud-native architectures, microservices, and Agile product development across all teams. You will be instrumental in ensuring the platform delivers on its core pillars:

Your Impact/ What you will be doing

Platform Vision & Organizational Strategy: Define, communicate, and drive the 3-5 year technical vision and architectural roadmap for the entire platform or a significant product area. Lead the application of advanced, specialized knowledge to solve complex, cross-organizational challenges, ensuring all engineering efforts align with the highest level of company objectives.

Strategic Governance & Risk Management: Establish and enforce platform-wide engineering standards, architecture review processes, and governance models. Proactively identify, debug, diagnose, and resolve the most complex strategic and systemic technical risks, performance bottlenecks, and organizational challenges with executive guidance.

Executive Technical Leadership & Talent Development: Serve as the most senior recognized internal subject matter expert, setting the technical bar for the entire organization. Lead, manage, and mentor other senior and principal engineers and managers. Be accountable for the career development, succession planning, and performance of engineering talent across multiple teams.

Driving Engineering Excellence: Establish the principles and practices for organizational-wide performance, scalability, and maintainability. Drive architectural decision-making at the executive level, ensuring technology choices are strategic and scalable across the enterprise.

Cross-Functional & Executive Alignment: Create and manage formal networks, engaging in high-level collaboration with Product VPs, QA Directors, and DevOps/SRE leadership to secure resources and alignment for world-class enterprise SaaS delivery. Requires conveying executive-level technical information and persuading diverse stakeholders to drive cross-organizational consensus and adoption.

Business Outcome Accountability: Accountable for the successful delivery of major product initiatives and their resulting business outcomes. Focuses on providing company-level thought leadership and works on broad organizational projects, requiring a deep understanding of the wider business and its P&L implications.

Core Technical Foundations / What we are looking for

Executive-Level Architectural Depth: Deep knowledge of cloud-native systems, distributed computing, microservices, and modern data architectures (SQL/NoSQL, data modeling) sufficient to set organizational standards and make high-stakes, long-term architectural decisions.

Hands-on Technical Credibility: While a leadership role, must maintain technical credibility through a deep, foundational understanding of Data Structures & Algorithms, OOP, and modern software development practices (e.g., Java, JavaScript/Node.js, or Python, Git).

System Governance & Security: Proven ability to establish robust governance models for application quality, performance, resilience, and security at an enterprise scale.

Strategic Visionary: Strong conceptual and strategic thinking to understand the most advanced issues and implications, applying this knowledge to define and execute the future direction of the platform. Exercises independent executive judgment in setting organization-wide methods and evaluation criteria.

Organizational Leader: Demonstrates end-to-end responsibility for the architectural and organizational health of the entire function. Capable of driving complex, multi-year solutions and influencing critical company-wide technology choices.

Qualifications & Next Steps

• Degree: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of related professional software development experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a Director-level or equivalent executive-leadership role overseeing multiple teams or platform areas.
• Location: This is an on-site leadership opportunity based in Pune with 3-4 days work from the office. Only candidates willing to be based in Pune will be eligible.
