Lead critical aviation maintenance technology across the Qantas Group
Shape the strategy and performance of complex, 24x7 operational platforms
Permanent opportunity based at our Head Office in Mascot
At Qantas, we represent Australia to the world. Our strength comes from our people, their different experiences and perspectives, and a shared commitment to safety, reliability and operational excellence.
Technology is fundamental to the safe and effective operation of our airline. As the Technical Product Owner, Aviation Maintenance Systems, you will lead the strategy, delivery and ongoing performance of maintenance and airworthiness systems supporting Qantas Mainline, QantasLink and Network Aviation.
You will be accountable across the complete product lifecycle, from strategy and planning through to delivery and operation. Your portfolio will include high-criticality systems supporting maintenance planning, continuing airworthiness, technical records, component tracking, work packages and deferred defects.
Working closely with Engineering leaders, Technology teams and external partners, you will ensure these 24x7 platforms remain stable, secure, compliant and fit for purpose. You will also shape a roadmap addressing platform upgrades, technical debt, integrations, regulatory change and opportunities to create more consistent ways of working across the Group.
What you’ll bring to the role
You are an experienced technology product or platform leader who understands the importance of stable, compliant systems in a safety-critical environment. You can balance strategic transformation with the need to protect day-to-day operations.
You will bring
Five or more years’ experience in technology product, delivery or service ownership, with the ability to lead the strategy, roadmap and performance of aviation maintenance and airworthiness systems.
Hands-on experience owning an aviation maintenance platform such as Maintenix, TRAX or AMOS, or a comparable enterprise asset-management system.
Demonstrated accountability for high-criticality, 24x7 platforms, including availability, incident, problem and change management, business continuity and service improvement.
A strong record of leading major platform upgrades, implementations, integrations or migrations, including testing, data reconciliation, cutover and post-implementation stabilisation.
An understanding of continuing airworthiness and maintenance processes, including maintenance programs, airworthiness directives, modifications, component tracking, technical records, deferred defects and work packages.
The ability to translate operational and regulatory requirements into controlled system changes while protecting data integrity, cyber security, compliance and operational resilience.
Experience managing technology vendors or service providers, including contracts, service levels, renewals, commercial negotiations, performance and total cost of ownership.
Strong influencing, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to align priorities across Engineering, Technology and multiple airline operators.
Experience leading multidisciplinary squads, specialist contractors and vendor teams within scaled Agile or hybrid delivery environments, with the resilience to operate effectively under pressure.
A degree in information technology, engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience working across multiple aviation operators or operating certificates will be highly regarded. Direct experience with both Maintenix and TRAX, aviation Engineering, CAMO or AMO environments, enterprise integrations, cloud migrations or ITIL practices would also be advantageous.
