Who You Are
The Sr Manager, Supply Chain Capital Planning is an execution‑focused planning professional who may serve as a people leader depending on organizational design and team structure. This role is responsible for managing core capital planning activities across QTS's supply chain and long lead equipment multi‑year program, ensuring that planning inputs, analyses, and reporting outputs are accurate, timely, and aligned to enterprise standards, while translating broader strategic direction into practical execution.
The role is focused on supply chain capital planning, capital spend governance, cash flow forecasting, and reporting—providing the financial visibility needed to manage capital commitments, purchase order activity, invoice reporting, and forecast accuracy so stakeholders can rely on timely, decision‑ready information. Working under the guidance of the Director, Capital Planning or Senior Director, Capital Planning, this role partners closely with Procurement, Finance, Accounting, Development, project controls, and construction delivery to support planning cycles, drive disciplined capital deployment and stronger controls, and provide clear insight into how procurement activity translates into project delivery and financial performance.
The Manager also plays a critical role in developing junior talent, reinforcing planning discipline, and ensuring the function can scale effectively as the portfolio grows.
What You Will Do
Manage execution of recurring supply chain capital planning workstreams—including data collection, validation, consolidation, and reporting—and lead preparation of portfolio level analyses on capital timing, phasing, variances, and emerging risks to support planning and governance discussions.
Lead, and where applicable supervise, analysts and associates responsible for capital planning deliverables, translating planning priorities into structured workplans, timelines, and output expectations while coaching junior team members and building a strong bench of talent within the Capital Planning function.
Lead governance for procurement capital spend, including approval thresholds, commitment tracking, and alignment between capital plans, purchase orders, and invoice activity, with controls for procurement cash flows and forecast to actual reporting across capital projects and procurement categories.
Monitor commitments, change orders, and spending variances to identify issues early and support corrective action, and support audit readiness and policy compliance by ensuring capital procurement data is complete, auditable, and aligned across ERP and reporting systems.
Own procurement capital reporting outputs—commitments, spend, invoice status, cash flow timing, forecast accuracy, and cancellation liability—and build and maintain reporting standards, definitions, and dashboards that provide a clear view of capital deployment by project, category, vendor, and timeline.
Partner with Procurement, Accounting, Finance, Development, and project teams to reconcile commitments to actuals, resolve data gaps, challenge assumptions, and improve cash flow forecasting, driving alignment between procurement platforms, ERP tools, and reporting data sets so leadership receives consistent, decision ready information.
Present procurement capital performance, cash flow updates, and reporting insights to senior leadership with clear commentary on risks, trends, and required actions, and develop KPIs for procurement capital management such as committed versus approved spend, forecast variance, invoice cycle timing, and reporting timeliness.
Lead cross functional reviews to resolve reporting gaps, improve source data quality, and standardize capital procurement processes across teams and regions, while driving adoption of planning templates, tools, governance routines, and automation that improve repeatability, transparency, efficiency, and analytical rigor.
