Quadric is redefining edge AI with the industry's first General Purpose Neural Processing Unit (GPNPU), enabling developers to run both neural network inference and conventional C++ code on a single programmable architecture. Our technology powers intelligent edge devices across automotive, industrial, robotics, and embedded systems. Founded in 2016 and based in downtown Burlingame, California, Quadric is building the world's first supercomputer designed for the real-time needs of edge devices.
Quadric aims to empower developers in every industry with superpowers to create tomorrow's technology, today. The company was co-founded by technologists from MIT and Carnegie Mellon, who were previously the technical co-founders of the Bitcoin computing company 21. THE OPPORTUNITY Quadric has created an innovative General-Purpose Neural Processing Unit (GPNPU) architecture. Unlike other NPUs or neural network accelerators that can only accelerate a portion of a machine learning graph, Quadric's GPNPU executes both NN graph code and conventional C++ DSP and control code across edge, endpoint, and high-performance automotive systems.
Quadric is building a new generation of high-performance NPU architectures for the edge. As the Safety Software Lead, you will drive the end-to-end ISO 26262 functional safety certification for our unified software stack. This critical role involves ensuring our entire compiler and SDK toolchain—including TVM, LLVM backends, and our core SDK—meets the highest automotive safety and quality standards. WHAT YOU'LL DO End-to-End Safety Certification & Compiler Compliance - Lead the end-to-end software functional safety process for Quadric’s NPU software stack according to ISO 26262. - Ensure the safety-critical compliance of our AI compiler stack, specifically targeting TVM and LLVM backends used for NPU code generation. - Oversee the qualification of software tools within the SDK and compiler environment to satisfy stringent automotive safety requirements.
Safety Process Definition, Documentation & Customer Support - Define and implement software development processes, including MISRA-C/C++ compliance, unit testing, and automated traceability from requirements to design and test cases. - Generate and maintain essential safety artifacts, including Safety Manuals, Cybersecurity Capability Reports, and Traceability Matrices using tools like JIRA and GitHub. - Partner directly with OEM and Tier-1 automotive customers to align on safety requirements and provide technical documentation for their system-level certifications.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE Within your first 6–12 months, you'll: - Establish ISO 26262-compliant software development processes and automated traceability workflows across our compiler and SDK pipelines. - Successfully complete safety qualification milestones for our TVM and LLVM compiler backends. - Deliver complete safety artifact packages (Safety Manuals, Traceability Matrices) to key Tier-1 and OEM automotive partners.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Required - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with 8+ years of industry experience (Master’s or PhD preferred). - Proven track record leading software safety certification for complex semiconductor products (preferably NPUs, GPUs, or high-performance CPUs). - Deep understanding of AI compiler stacks, specifically TVM and LLVM. - Strong familiarity with ISO 21434 (Cybersecurity), ASPICE, and AUTOSAR standards. - Hands-on experience with system-level software (drivers, firmware, bare-metal runtimes for AI accelerators) and implementing security solutions for automotive or industrial applications.
Preferred - Experience with MLIR or OpenXLA compiler frameworks. - Direct experience engaging with Tier-1 automotive customers and OEMs on system-level safety reviews. Quadric also offer a variety of benefits to support your needs. The benefits below reflect our India-based offerings; for roles in other locations, benefits vary and are shared during the hiring process. These include: - Medical, dental, and vision insurance - Equity with the business - Paid Parental Leave - PF Retirement Plan - Flexible PTO - Winter holiday shutdown - Catered lunch each day in our office - Downtown Pune office location, close to shops, cafes, and local amenities - Collaborative, low-ego culture with significant ownership and impact - A work culture focused on innovative disruption If this role resonates with you, we encourage you to apply even if your experience does not perfectly match every qualification.
