About the role

The Inside Sales Representative drives growth across designated long-tail customers and serves as a critical front door for new commercial opportunities. The role is responsible for inbound selling, lead response and qualification, appropriate routing, customer retention and expansion, and disciplined opportunity management. Inside Sales Representatives are sellers, not administrative order-processing resources. They focus their time on understanding customer needs, developing relationships, creating and advancing opportunities, and growing assigned customers while partnering with Sales Support on repeatable quoting, order-entry, account-setup, and fulfillment administration.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Own and grow designated long-tail customer relationships through responsive, proactive, and efficient inside-sales coverage
  • Respond quickly to inbound leads and customer inquiries and establish a strong first commercial experience with 80/20
  • Qualify leads and opportunities by understanding customer needs, application, potential, buying process, timing, route-to-market considerations, and required resources
  • Route qualified opportunities to the commercial resource best positioned to serve the customer, including Territory Sales, Strategic Accounts, Channel Sales, Business Development, distribution, e-commerce, or other approved coverage motions
  • Retain and expand assigned customers by identifying new contacts, applications, projects, and product opportunities
  • Create and advance qualified opportunities through the sales process and maintain clear next steps and follow-up
  • Conduct discovery, recommend appropriate commercial next steps, communicate 80/20 value, and coordinate technical support when customer needs require deeper design or application expertise
  • Prepare or coordinate proposals, quotes, presentations, and other sales materials needed to advance opportunities, using Sales Support for repeatable administrative execution wherever practical
  • Serve as the primary commercial contact for assigned customers and coordinate timely resolution of issues with Customer Service, Sales Support, Design Services, Operations, or other resources
  • Support Strategic Account Managers and Territory Sales Managers on designated lower-touch ship-to locations or opportunities when assigned
  • Maintain accurate account, contact, lead, opportunity, activity, pipeline, and forecast information in Salesforce
  • Follow established segmentation, lead-management, routing, pricing, and commercial rules of engagement
  • Use sales and customer data to prioritize time toward accounts and opportunities with the greatest potential
  • Collaborate closely with Sales Support to protect selling capacity and ensure clean handoffs of quote, order, account-setup, and fulfillment administration
  • Contribute customer and market insights that improve commercial execution, lead quality, and customer experience

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in inside sales, B2B sales, business development, customer relationship management, or a related commercial role
  • Demonstrated ability to understand customer needs, qualify opportunities, build relationships, and move opportunities toward a decision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional, responsive customer approach
  • Strong organization, follow-up, and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple customers and opportunities simultaneously
  • Ability to learn technical products, applications, and commercial processes and communicate them clearly to customers
  • Experience using CRM systems and maintaining accurate customer, lead, and opportunity information
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office and digital sales and communication tools
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with field sales, channel, strategic accounts, technical teams, customer service, and Sales Support
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and commitment to consistent commercial execution
