Cenero Technology/Software

Technical Architect

Charlotte, NC +5 Hybrid Full-time

OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY

The Technical Architect owns the design of solutions that span multiple products, teams, and systems across Cenero's software portfolio. This portfolio includes internal and client-facing web applications that support our AV Sales, Integration, and Managed Services businesses, along with the business systems behind them. This role sits at the intersection of Product, Engineering, IT, and Data, taking on cross-team challenges such as shared product data, integration between platforms, and delivery pipelines.

The Technical Architect defines how solutions come together across teams, partnering with Product Owners who prioritize and deliver the work within their own teams. The role does not own a backlog or a development team; success is measured by designs that are built as intended and deliver the expected business outcome. The ideal candidate brings a balanced blend of deep technical expertise and strategic thinking, with a track record of leading architectural change across multiple teams from discovery through implementation.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The following responsibilities are considered essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.

Problem Framing & Solution Discovery

  • Translate complex, cross-team challenges into clearly defined problems that can be prioritized, sequenced, and funded.
  • Lead discovery with Product Owners, software engineers, IT, and data teams to assess the current state and identify constraints, dependencies, and root causes.
  • Quantify the business impact of current-state issues, including time, rework, risk, or revenue, so technical initiatives can be weighed against feature work.

Architecture & Solution Design

  • Develop and evaluate design options, including build, buy, and integrate, outlining trade-offs in cost, effort, risk, performance, security, and total cost of ownership.
  • Define systems of record, data ownership, and integration patterns across product applications and business systems, including Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Q360, and Great Plains.
  • Plan the architecture for the upcoming ERP migration, sequencing cutovers into phased, reversible steps that minimize business disruption and deliver value along the way.
  • Guide the modernization of applications, defining the target architecture and migration approach.
  • Establish and maintain reference architectures, design standards, and architecture decision records.

Platform, DevOps & AI-Enabled Modernization

  • Own DevOps for the engineering organization, including CI/CD pipelines, environment strategy, and release standards.
  • Build prototypes and proofs of concept to validate designs before they are handed to Scrum teams for production development.
  • Design AI tooling, harnesses, and delivery guardrails, including automated code review and test generation, that remain independent of any single LLM or vendor.
  • Partner regularly with the Security Engineering on identity and authorization, secrets management, observability, and the use of customer data with AI tools, ensuring designs meet SOC 2 and GDPR requirements.

Stakeholder Alignment & Cross-Team Enablement

  • Build collective agreement on proposed designs across Product, Engineering, and IT, escalating disagreements early with clear and balanced recommendations.
  • Document agreed architecture with enough clarity and detail for Software Engineering management to enforce it and for Scrum teams to begin work.
  • Break designs into sprint-sized work packages and partner with Product Owners on prioritization, remaining engaged through implementation.
  • Collaborate with outside contractors and Ricoh Japan engineering teams to align on shared architecture and integration standards.
  • Mentor engineers, analysts, and Product Owners to strengthen technical decision-making across the organization.
  • Foster a culture of quality, ownership, and exceptional performance in line with Cenero's Core Values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
