Florence - Senior Accountant; Auto - Full Time

Role Summary

The Senior Accountant – Auto will be responsible for performing monthly accounting integrity tasks and processes. These tasks will be critical in establishing and maintaining GAAP accounting practices across a large automotive group with multiple locations. The staff accountant will assist in developing and implementing an internal financial reporting and KPI framework for internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Reconcile key balance sheet accounts monthly to the organization’s DMS, bank reconciliations, inventory systems, AP system, etc.
• Review monthly general ledger activity, account balances, aged reports, etc., for reasonableness
• Perform monthly reporting procedures to bridge dealer financial statements to GAAP financial statements for key internal stakeholders
• Prepare schedules/support for board presentation materials
• Perform variance analysis procedures over key financial accounts to explain changes in operating results vs planned or prior period
• Assist in the annual budgeting process
• Document reconciliation procedures as schedules move from cleanup to steady state
• Identify and flag recurring discrepancies or control gaps to management
• Participate in accrual methodology remediation as directed
• Assist in documenting accounting policies and procedures, as well as accounting treatments
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• At least 2+ years of experience with general ledger accounting, journal entry preparation, financial statement preparation, balance sheet account reconciliations, etc.
• Automotive dealership accounting experience a plus, not required
• Advanced Excel skills required
• Experience using AI tools (Claude or similar) a plus
• Strong reconciliation/analytical mindset — comfortable digging into detail and tracing discrepancies to root cause
• Ability to work cross-functionally with dealership operations staff without direct authority over them
