- Key Responsibilities - Test Automation & Quality
- Design, build, and maintain automated test coverage for ActiveScale object storage features across S3, data-path, durability, and data-movement functionality.
- Develop component, integration, system, regression, and failure-injection tests that validate correctness and reliability at scale.
- Integrate automated tests into CI pipelines and improve test reliability, execution time, diagnostics, and reporting.
- Own the team's automated test strategy and work with developers to define coverage and acceptance criteria early in the development cycle.
- Investigate failures, reproduce complex issues, and help isolate defects across distributed system components.
Object Storage & Resilience Testing
- Validate S3 API behavior, compatibility, error handling, and data integrity using AWS S3 SDKs, tools, and automated test frameworks.
- Develop automated coverage for failure scenarios such as node loss, disk faults, partial writes, network disruption, and recovery.
- Test data placement, erasure coding, tiering, and movement of data across NVMe, HDD, and tape where applicable.
- Contribute to performance, scalability, and long-running reliability testing of the I/O pipeline.
Engineering
- Write clean, maintainable automation code and build reusable test infrastructure that supports functional, resilience, and failure testing.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, defect triage, and release readiness activities.
- Partner closely with developers and the Software Engineering Manager / Product Owner to identify quality risks and ensure appropriate coverage.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of software quality engineering, test automation, or software development experience, with strong programming or scripting skills in Python, Go, C/C++, or similar languages.
- Strong experience building and maintaining automated tests for complex software systems.
