You’ll manage a small but highly technical team responsible for embedding robust FinCrime controls that protect our customers and ensure compliance with regulatory expectations, providing continuity for incident response, new product design, and audit and exam readiness.
You will report to the VP of Identity and Trust and work closely with stakeholders across Product, Engineering and Compliance.
You Will
- Own end-to-end verification control lifecycle management, including impact assessment, rule design, FLOD testing, and control effectiveness reviews.
- Define clear roles, responsibilities and expectations for team members. Develop team members and hire for additional skillsets where needed.
- Develop data products and risk scores to support program optimization and inform product roadmaps
- Define North Star metrics for our programs, and ship data insights to help stakeholders understand how our programs interact with their products or regions.
- Deeply understand the unique needs of Remitly’s customer base to deliver great AML and customer experience outcomes
- Continuously evaluate how we can leverage AI to accelerate impact, and challenge your team to innovate in their roles
- Own and improve the process for new product and regional expansion, helping stakeholder teams launch new initiatives quickly while building on top of our platform.
- Drive and maintain audit and exam readiness, ensuring evidence documentation, traceability, and control mapping for all new verification capabilities.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives spanning KYC, Transaction Monitoring, and Sanctions programs to close regulatory gaps and streamline FLOD testing.
You Have
- 8+ years of experience in program management or risk control ownership within AML, FinCrime, or regulatory programs (preferably payments or remittances).
- 6+ years of people management experience
- Experience leading analytics and/or data science teams. Familiarity with building data products and predictive scores
- Deep understanding of AML and related control systems (screening, document validation, sanctions rules, etc.).
- Strong familiarity with audit, regulatory reporting, and control documentation practices.
- Technical fluency, with ability to interpret and write BRDs and collaborate with engineering.
- Ability to context-switch across product, compliance, and operational domains and provide structured clarity in ambiguous situations.
- Intermediate-to-advanced SQL skills and comfort analyzing operational or risk control data.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across global time zones.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, risk management, or related field (CAMS or similar certification preferred).
- Prior experience with fintech, payments, or remittance products strongly preferred.
