As a Software Engineer, you’ll build and own the backend services, infrastructure, and data systems that support Robinhood Wallet products. You’ll develop innovative solutions to deliver a best-in-class trading experience for cryptocurrencies and tokenized stocks, including perpetual futures, to customers worldwide.

The Robinhood Wallet team’s mission is to democratize access to financial services worldwide by leveraging DeFi protocols and Robinhood Chain.

These roles are based in either our Menlo Park, Toronto or New York city offices, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

What you’ll do

• Design, build, test, and deploy scalable backend services that power Robinhood Wallet
• Develop product-facing features and platform enhancements that meet strict correctness and scalability standards.
• Identify and implement improvements to system performance, engineering productivity, and risk reduction.
• Collaborate closely with client teams, cross-functional partners, and external vendors to deliver impactful technical solutions.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar through design reviews, architecture discussions, and hands-on leadership

What you bring

• 5+ years of experience in software development.
• Expertise in backend development using languages such as Go, Python, or Java, with deep knowledge of cloud-native architectures
• Strong grasp of system design, data modeling, and software engineering fundamentals
• Proven ability to simplify complex problems, make sound tradeoffs, and drive alignment across diverse stakeholders
• Strong ownership mindset with a track record of delivering high-impact, end-to-end product outcomes and raising team-wide technical standards

Bonus points

Experience working for a DeFi protocol, a crypto wallet company, or another blockchain-related company.

Familiarity with technologies like EVM blockchains, smart contracts

In addition to the base pay range listed below, this role is also eligible for bonus opportunities + equity + benefits.

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.

$196,000—$230,000 USD

Zone 2 (Denver, CO; Westlake, TX; Chicago, IL)

$172,000—$202,000 USD

Zone 3 (Lake Mary, FL; Clearwater, FL; Gainesville, FL)

$153,000—$179,000 USD
