Team Leader - Legal Business Support

London, United Kingdom In person Full-time

Lead the support team that keeps a busy, high-profile Legal Service running smoothly, confidently and to excellent professional standards

This is a great opportunity to take a visible leadership role at the heart of Bi-borough Legal Services. As Team Leader in our Business Support Unit, you will help shape the way operational support is delivered across a varied and important legal service, ensuring colleagues have the systems, records, processes and practical support they need to work effectively.

Working Style

You will work across the Bi-borough Legal Services partnership (Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, and the City of Westminster), building strong relationships with lawyers, managers and support colleagues and external stakeholders. The role calls for someone who is organised, approachable and able to respond calmly to competing priorities while providing clear day-to-day direction to the Business Support Team.

What you’ll be doing

You will lead the Business Support Team, helping work move through the team accurately, on time and to a consistently high standard. You will supervise staff, allocate work, support colleagues with priorities and create the conditions for a responsive and reliable support service.

You will also play an important role in strengthening the systems and standards that underpin Legal Services. This includes supporting compliance with Solicitors Regulation Authority requirements, overseeing records and quality checks, monitoring the case management system, investigating data issues and ensuring documents and correspondence are saved properly and consistently.

You will be responsible for the safekeeping of Council deeds and for effective oversight of key records, including freedom of information and recruitment records. You will also manage, maintain and develop the case management system so that legal advisers receive reliable and cost-effective support.

A key part of the role will be identifying and leading operational improvements and process reviews. You will support the Business Manager with the management of financial resources, contribute to the timely delivery of improvements and produce useful management information for the Legal Management Team.

What you’ll bring

We are looking for someone who understands the importance of excellent legal business support and can combine strong operational judgement with a practical, can-do approach. You may already have experience of legal practice management or public sector business support, and you will understand the importance of professional standards, quality assurance, information governance and good records management.

You will be a confident and supportive people leader who can set expectations, organise work, maintain standards and help colleagues build confidence and capability. You will be comfortable having oversight of detail while keeping sight of wider service priorities.

You will bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, high proficiency in data analysis, reporting and digital collaboration tools, and experience of developing or maintaining a case management system.

We are looking for someone who can lead improvement projects, review processes and implement practical changes that reduce waste and improve service delivery. You will be adaptable, collaborative and committed to learning and continuous improvement in a shared-services environment.
