System Architect – Electrical (Power Distribution & UPS Systems)

Petaling Jaya, Malaysia +1 In person Full-time

The System Architect is the power distribution and electrical systems authority for assigned strategic accounts within the zone. This role owns the end-to-end electrical architecture for datacenter solutions, from primary utility input through UPS systems, distribution, monitoring, to rack-level power delivery. Working as a core member of the account fighting unit with the Key Account Manager and Segment Solution Architect, the SAE-Electrical strengthens technical positioning and drives successful deal closure. The role is accountable for electrical solution quality, code compliance, technical standards adherence, and building deep customer credibility at the electrical engineering level.

What will you do?

Own the end-to-end electrical design: Design the full power chain for data centre solutions, from utility service entry, transformers and switchgear down to rack-level power delivery.

Design UPS and distribution systems: Size UPS setups (2N, N+1, dual-bus) for IT and cooling loads, work out battery runtime, and design the primary and secondary distribution, including PDUs, cable routing and voltage drop analysis.

Integrate monitoring, grounding and protection: Connect the electrical systems to BMS (building management systems) using SNMP/Modbus, set up alarms, and define grounding, bonding and surge or lightning protection.

Design power for AI data centres and optimise efficiency: Plan power for high-density GPU clusters, including load profiles and power sequencing. Model energy performance, including PUE, efficiency losses and power factor.

Ensure compliance: Make sure designs meet IEC, IEEE, NEC and local codes, Uptime Institute Tier requirements and EN 50600.

Shape specifications in the market: Influence customer power architecture early, during concept and design. Work with consultants, design institutes and EPC contractors to get Schneider Electric power and Secure Power solutions written into their standards and RFPs.

Act as the customer's electrical expert: Lead engineer-to-engineer technical discussions and workshops, defend design decisions, present redundancy strategy to customer leaders, and build lasting relationships with customer engineering teams.

Drive bids as part of the account fighting unit: Work with the KAM, Segment Solution Architect, Mechanical and Digital architects to co-design integrated solutions. Submit bid designs for Principal Architect review, and feed lessons from win/loss reviews back into standards.
