Schneider Electric Manufacturing

Academic Partnerships - East Asia & Japan (EAJP)

Petaling Jaya, Malaysia In person Full-time

Schneider Electric's Education Segment provides technical training solutions that close the skills gap in energy, automation and digital technologies. We equip technical and vocational institutes, universities, government skilling programmes and industry academies with hands-on training labs, curricula, digital learning, train-the-trainer programmes and certification.

Demand is rising fast. Governments are investing heavily in workforce skilling, industry faces acute technician shortages, and the energy transition and smart manufacturing need new skills at scale. The segment has already helped more than 200,000 young people gain job-ready skills.

We are now building a dedicated, multi-country organisation to grow the business across six markets, with its own business development, engineering and delivery teams. East Asia & Japan is a priority growth region.

Purpose of the role

Open and grow the Education Segment's business across East Asia and Japan. You will meet the growing need for industry-grade technical training solutions among institutes, governments and employers in Japan, South Korea and South-East Asia.

This is a hands-on commercial role. Reporting directly to the Head of Education Segment, you will personally lead the first pursuits, land the first reference sites in each priority country, and turn them into a sustainable, multi-country business. As the business grows, you will build the team that takes it to scale.

Market overview

East Asia and Japan form one of the world's fastest-growing markets for technical training. The shift of manufacturing into South-East Asia, national skilling and vocational reform programmes, and an ageing workforce in Japan and South Korea that is turning to automation are creating strong demand for job-ready technical skills.

Public and private institutions across the region, including vocational colleges, polytechnics, applied universities, national training centres and industry academies, are modernising their training to keep pace with smart manufacturing, industrial IoT and the energy transition. They are looking for trusted partners who can deliver complete, industry-grade training solutions.

Engage national skilling agencies and vocational standards bodies, and contribute to curricula, competency standards and lab standards, so that training reflects what industry needs.

Build trusted relationships with senior leaders of public and private institutions.

Work closely with Schneider Electric country organisations in Japan, South Korea and South-East Asia to build on their existing customer relationships and market presence.

Business management and team

Own EAJP commercial performance: orders, pipeline, margin and forecast.

Report regularly to the Head of Education Segment on performance, pipeline and market insight, and contribute to the segment's regional strategy.

Work closely with the China & East Asia/Japan Operations Centre in Beijing, engineering and delivery teams so that every institution receives a solution that works from day one.

Build the team step by step as the business grows, hiring the first business development and solution consulting profiles in line with the plan.
