Sealed Air is seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Senior Cloud Platform Migration Engineer to assume ownership of critical cloud infrastructure supporting customer-facing digital services and connected manufacturing capabilities.
The successful candidate will stabilize, operate, document, and modernize an existing AWS-based platform ecosystem while helping drive the long-term strategic transition to Microsoft Azure. The role requires practical experience with AWS, Cloud Foundry, GitLab, automation, infrastructure-as-code, Linux, security, and cloud platform operations.
This is not primarily an application development role. The candidate must understand enough about application hosting patterns to support infrastructure decisions, troubleshoot platform-level issues, and partner effectively with application teams, but application code ownership and long-term application modernization.
What are we looking for in you?
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Platform Ownership
- Own the operational health, reliability, security, and lifecycle management of assigned cloud-hosted infrastructure platforms.
- Administer current-state AWS platform components including IAM, networking, compute, storage, platform services, encryption, and security controls.
- Support and maintain Cloud Foundry and BOSH platform infrastructure, including stemcells, releases, manifests, routing dependencies, certificates, and operational procedures.
- Manage platform patching, operating system lifecycle activities, certificate renewals, vulnerability remediation, and related production maintenance activities.
- Create and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, technical diagrams, and support procedures for inherited and future-state environments.
- Azure Migration and Modernization
- Help lead infrastructure planning and execution for migration from AWS-hosted platform services to Azure-based target-state architecture.
- Assess current AWS, Cloud Foundry, GitLab, Linux, networking, IAM, and platform service dependencies to define migration approach, risks, sequencing, and operational impacts.
- Design repeatable Azure infrastructure patterns aligned to enterprise standards, including identity, network, security, monitoring, backup, and operational support models.
- Partner with Jayaram's application team to ensure application workloads are migrated or modernized with a clear separation between application ownership and infrastructure platform ownership.
- Develop migration automation and validation patterns to reduce risk and improve repeatability across future transitions.
- Why do we need you?
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, automation, or related infrastructure operations experience.
- Strong hands-on AWS experience, including operational support of production cloud infrastructure.
- Practical Azure knowledge and demonstrated ability to design or support cloud migration and modernization activities.
- Hands-on scripting and automation experience with Python and Shell/Bash.
- Experience with GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, Linux administration, infrastructure automation, and cloud security practices.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
- Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, documentation, and operational problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to operate independently in a partially documented inherited environment and convert ambiguity into structured technical action plans.
- Cloud Foundry administration experience, especially with self-managed or legacy platform environments.
- BOSH administration experience, including directors, stemcells, releases, manifests, and platform lifecycle management.
- Experience migrating workloads or platform services between public cloud providers, especially AWS to Azure.
- Experience with Azure landing zones, Azure networking, Azure identity, Azure Monitor, Azure Policy, and Azure-native platform services.
- Experience administering self-hosted GitLab, including upgrades, runners, access controls, storage, backups, and migration to SaaS or alternate DevOps platforms.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, platform-as-a-service models, and modern application hosting patterns.
- Experience supporting industrial IoT, connected device, or manufacturing-adjacent cloud platforms.
- AWS, Azure, DevOps, security, or architecture certifications.
