The Senior Director, Solution Architecture leads the solution and domain architects who design the architecture for programs and projects across Sherwin-Williams' business portfolios and technology platforms. The role owns the people, the practice and the capacity: who is hired and developed, how architects are assigned and prioritized, and the quality and consistency of the designs they deliver. It operates within the target states set by the Principal Portfolio Architects and the standards set by the Principal Practice Architects, and makes sure both land in every design.
Its first-year priority is bringing architects from several ETG organizations into one operating model without disrupting work in flight.
Lead the solution and domain architecture organization: hiring, development, performance and succession for the architects and the leaders of its groups
Own architect assignment and capacity: allocate architects to programs and projects by priority, balance load across groups and surface capacity gaps before they stall delivery
Own the quality and consistency of solution architecture: deliverable standards, peer review and conformance to portfolio target states and practice standards
Bring architects arriving from other ETG organizations into one operating model: common roles, expectations, engagement model and career paths, with minimal disruption to in-flight work
Partner with the Principal Portfolio and Practice Architects so that target states and standards reach every design, and resolve conflicts between delivery pressure and architecture direction
Own the engagement model with portfolio and platform delivery leaders: how work reaches architects, how it is prioritized and what delivery can expect from them
Raise the hands-on technical bar: architects prototype, use AI code assist and agentic tooling in their work and stay current in their platforms
Report architect capacity, utilization and delivery outcomes to the Enterprise Architecture leadership team, and represent solution architecture in architecture governance
