Every day, millions of Australians connect, work, stream, and stay in touch on the Optus network. When it works seamlessly, it's easy to take for granted. But behind it is a team making thousands of decisions every day - decisions that keep people, businesses and communities connected.
This role leads the transformation of Field Operations through digitisation, automation, and the development of advanced planning and orchestration capabilities to enable a modern, data-driven operating model. Working closely with Network Operations, Digital, OSS, and Field leaders, it drives the evolution of operational processes, technology platforms, workforce planning, and the establishment of a field control tower function.
The role also provides leadership across the Field Operations transformation portfolio, aligning with the Networks OSS roadmap to optimise demand management, workforce utilisation, operational resilience, and customer outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the Field Operations transformation roadmap, driving digitisation, automation, process simplification, and adoption of predictive operational capabilities.
- Establish and mature a Field Operations Planning & Orchestration (Control Tower) capability to optimise demand management, workflow, scheduling, dispatch, and workforce utilisation.
- Partner with Networks, OSS, Digital, and Automation teams to deliver integrated technology solutions and ensure operational requirements shape strategic roadmaps.
- Drive systems integration across workforce, network, asset, and workflow platforms while embedding automation-first and data-driven decision-making practices.
- Define performance frameworks, operational insights, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, scalability, and service reliability.
- Strengthen operational resilience by supporting business continuity, incident response, workforce capacity planning, and recovery readiness across field domains.
- Provide strategic leadership and stakeholder engagement, championing innovation, operational excellence, and alignment with broader Network Operations transformation objectives.
What You’ll Bring
Extensive leadership experience in telecommunications or other asset-intensive industries, with deep expertise in field and network operations.
Proven track record leading enterprise-scale digital transformation, automation, and operational modernisation programs.
Strong planning, orchestration, and systems-thinking capabilities, with experience managing complex workflows and competing priorities at scale.
Demonstrated ability to balance operational performance, customer outcomes, risk, safety, and cost considerations.
Significant experience in technical planning, service management, and enterprise-governed operating environments.
Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills across operational, technology, and leadership teams.
Ability to lead effectively in high-pressure, incident-driven environments, with relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Technology, Business, or a related discipline desirable.
