Power the future of space at Star Catcher
Star Catcher is building the first energy grid in space to power the orbital economy.
Today’s spacecraft must generate all of their own power, which caps what they can do and how long they can operate. But what if they could “plug” into a grid, the way buildings do on Earth? Instead of cables and outlets, Star Catcher is building the technology to wirelessly beam energy to spacecraft’s existing solar panels when and where they need it.
Be an early member of a team building an entirely new energy infrastructure at scale to power the next frontier.
Star Catcher Industries, Inc. (Star Catcher) located in Jacksonville, Florida is building the first power grid in space. We are seeking a hands-on IT Infrastructure & Systems Engineer to support enterprise systems, network operations, cybersecurity tools, end-user technology, and IT projects. As operations expand across our high-tech Jacksonville facilities, including clean rooms, optical labs, and machine shops, this role will help keep engineering, production, and corporate technology secure, reliable, and available.
Unlike a traditional corporate IT support role, the IT Infrastructure & Systems Engineer combines systems administration, network operations, escalated technical support, and security monitoring with hands-on delivery of IT projects. Working within established technical priorities and project plans, this engineer implements improvements, resolves complex issues, maintains dependable infrastructure, and supports cybersecurity requirements in a fast-moving hardware engineering environment. Routine operational changes must remain within explicitly delegated authority and established procedures; changes outside that scope require approval.
This is a 100% on-site position in Jacksonville, Florida, supporting three offices located within a few miles of one another. Local travel between offices is required, and occasional after-hours maintenance or emergency support may be needed.
Key Responsibilities
Network Operations & Infrastructure Support
- Configure, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot switches, firewalls, routers, VPNs, and wireless access points across Star Catcher’s facilities.
- Monitor network health, latency, bandwidth, and uptime; investigate connectivity issues and assist with planned network improvements, redundancy, and failover testing.
- Support physical servers, storage (SAN/NAS), racks, cabling, and related infrastructure; maintain accurate configurations and escalate design decisions as appropriate.
Systems Administration, Identity & Cloud Operations
Administer user accounts, access permissions, MFA, SSO, and business platforms such as Google Workspace and other identity or productivity systems used by the company.
Maintain and troubleshoot Windows and Linux systems, virtualization platforms, and cloud-hosted services as deployed; assist with upgrades, migrations, and routine maintenance.
Manage endpoint configurations, patching, application deployment, and encryption using approved endpoint-management tools; resolve complex support tickets and coordinate with IT support staff.
Develop, test, and maintain scripts and automation to streamline system administration, software deployment, monitoring, and recurring operational tasks.
Cybersecurity Operations & Compliance Support
Operate and maintain assigned security tools and technical safeguards; investigate alerts, document findings, escalate potential incidents, and carry out approved remediation steps.
Assist with network segmentation, access controls, system hardening, and collection of technical evidence supporting NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, and applicable defense requirements.
Monitor and troubleshoot endpoint detection and response (EDR), logging/SIEM, firewall policies, and other security technologies in coordination with IT leadership.
Data Protection, Backup & Incident Response
- Maintain and test approved backup and recovery processes for critical systems and data; assist with disaster recovery and business continuity exercises.
- Investigate systems, network, and endpoint incidents; support incident response by capturing logs, documenting actions, restoring service, and escalating issues promptly.
- Maintain system documentation, network diagrams, operating procedures, asset records, and technical handoff notes.
IT Project Delivery & Technical Collaboration
- Complete assigned IT infrastructure, systems, security, and workplace-technology projects, including deployments, upgrades, migrations, and process improvements.
- Coordinate project tasks, perform testing, document changes, communicate progress and blockers, and provide handoff information to IT leadership and support teams.
- Coordinate with technology vendors on technical support cases, troubleshooting, equipment repairs or replacements, and implementation activities.
- As assigned, assist with engineering applications, specialized workstations, and lab or production computers, with the support scope defined jointly by IT leadership and Engineering.
