The Opportunity
We’re looking for a hands-on Corporate Accountant to support accurate, timely financial operations as our e-commerce apparel business grows. This role will own key general ledger and month-end close activities, maintain reliable inventory and cost-of-goods-sold records, and support multistate sales and use tax compliance. You’ll work across Finance, HR, Operations, and other teams to keep reporting clear and support sound business decisions.
What You’ll Do
Manage general ledger and close: Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and fixed-asset entries; maintain supporting schedules; complete balance-sheet reconciliations; and help deliver accurate monthly financial statements.
Reconcile cash and e-commerce activity: Reconcile bank, credit-card, payment-processor, and Shopify settlement activity. Investigate variances, refunds, chargebacks, fees, and timing differences, and document resolutions.
Support multistate tax compliance: Reconcile taxable sales and tax collected by jurisdiction; maintain filing calendars; prepare or coordinate sales and use tax returns and payments; track registrations and nexus considerations with external tax advisors; and help resolve tax notices.
Maintain inventory and product-cost records: Reconcile inventory records to warehouse and fulfillment reports; review inventory receipts, adjustments, and transfers; support product-cost and landed-cost tracking; and analyze inventory and cost-of-goods-sold variances.
Coordinate accounts payable and expenses: Review invoices and expense documentation, code transactions, maintain vendor records, support payment preparation, and ensure expenses are recorded in the correct period.
Record payroll and benefit activity: Reconcile payroll, benefits, and retirement-plan activity with HR and payroll providers; investigate discrepancies; and maintain supporting documentation.
Prepare reporting and support compliance: Prepare recurring schedules and management reports; organize records for tax filings, audits, and year-end work; and help maintain accounting controls and clear documentation.
Improve accounting workflows: Identify recurring errors or manual work and recommend practical improvements to accounting processes, reconciliations, and reporting.
Provide additional support: Perform other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For

- At least 3 years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger work, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Demonstrated experience supporting multistate sales and use tax compliance, including jurisdiction-level reconciliations and preparing or reviewing returns; familiarity with nexus, registrations, and tax notices.
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and practical experience preparing journal entries and balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and organizing large transaction files.
- Experience with an accounting system or ERP; ability to learn new finance and e-commerce tools.
- Clear communication, sound judgment, careful attention to detail, and the ability to protect confidential financial and employee information.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in e-commerce, apparel, retail, or another inventory-based business.
- Experience reconciling Shopify or similar e-commerce activity, payment processors, and warehouse or third-party logistics reports.
- Experience coordinating payroll, benefits, and finance records across business systems.
- CPA license or progress toward CPA certification.
