It's Time to Join Stryker!
Join Stryker Endoscopy's R&D Test team and help develop innovative medical technologies that make healthcare better.
As a Senior R&D Test Engineer, Electrical, you'll work closely with electrical, software, firmware, and systems engineers to evaluate new product designs, troubleshoot technical challenges, and ensure our products meet demanding performance and reliability requirements.
This is a hands-on engineering role where curiosity, experimentation, and problem-solving are essential. You'll work with early-stage prototypes, investigate failures, develop creative testing solutions, and support formal design verification activities throughout the product development lifecycle.
What You Will Do
- Design and execute electrical and system-level tests to evaluate product functionality, performance, reliability, and durability.
- Experiment with early-stage prototypes to identify potential design issues and recommend improvements before products reach formal verification.
- Troubleshoot electrical hardware, PCBAs, and integrated systems using common test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
- Investigate technical failures, identify root causes, and collaborate with engineering teams to develop effective solutions.
- Develop test plans, protocols, and reports that support design verification and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate hardware, software, and firmware interactions to identify potential system-level performance issues.
- Support testing involving signal integrity, data transmission, power consumption, connectivity, and other electrical performance characteristics.
- Develop or modify basic test automation scripts, tools, or fixtures to improve testing efficiency and effectiveness.
- Communicate test findings, technical challenges, and recommendations to cross-functional engineering teams.
- Collaborate with senior engineers while independently managing assigned testing activities and contributing to continuous improvement.
What You Need
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline with relevant electrical engineering experience is required.
2 or more years of relevant engineering experience, including electrical testing, hardware development, product verification, or related technical work is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical systems, circuits, PCBAs, or electronic devices.
- Familiarity with electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, or similar instruments.
- Demonstrated ability to investigate technical problems, analyze results, and recommend practical solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while collaborating effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.Experience with electrical product development, prototype testing, hardware validation, or design verification.
- Experience developing and executing test plans, protocols, and technical reports.
- Familiarity with video, imaging, audio, wireless, or high-speed digital communication technologies.
- Experience in medical devices, consumer electronics, aerospace, or another complex product development environment.
- Knowledge of design controls, quality management systems, or regulated product development processes.
- Basic programming or scripting experience using Python, C/C++, Arduino, or similar tools for test automation.
- Experience with PCBA design, prototyping, debugging, or failure analysis.
- Experience troubleshooting integrated hardware, software, and firmware systems.
Our Team
- You'll join Stryker Endoscopy's R&D Test team, a collaborative group of engineers and technical specialists with expertise spanning electrical, mechanical, software, and optical technologies.
- Our team partners closely with product development groups to experiment with new technologies, challenge product designs, and identify issues early, when they can have the greatest impact.
- You'll have opportunities to learn from experienced engineers, expand your technical expertise, and take increasing ownership of complex testing activities as you grow.
- If you enjoy hands-on engineering, figuring out why something isn't working, and finding creative ways to make it better, we'd love to hear from you.
- Help us make healthcare better.
