Job Description Summary

Position Objective

The Director, Commission Program Analytics is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness, financial performance, and behavioral outcomes of Sunbelt’s commission programs across multiple sales channels and representative populations. Serving as the subject-matter expert for commission-plan analysis, the Director uses performance data, financial modeling, and business insights to assess plan components and recommend improvements.

The Director partners with divisional executives, Finance, Technology, and Incentive Compensation Management to translate business objectives and analytical findings into clear, fact-based results allowing future plan recommendations, reporting requirements, and objective solutions. Success requires sound judgment and the ability to communicate complex findings through clear, consistent reporting that enables direct comparison of compensation results by division and plan function.

Building and maintaining credible relationships with RVPs, SVPs, and executive leadership is critical to the role’s effectiveness.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead the analysis of all sales commission programs and related processes, encompassing approximately 2,500 sales representatives and 130 distinct plans, to evaluate effectiveness, scalability, financial performance, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Establish and develop the performance measures, data definitions, success criteria, and sales management indicators used to evaluate plan component effectiveness, including:
  • Sales growth and productivity

Pay-for-performance alignment

Attainment and payout distributions

Compensation cost and alignment with goals/budget

Engagement and growth by component

Contributor and pay component differentiation

Spiff programs and return on investment

Participate in the development of dashboards and analytical models that identify performance trends, payout anomalies, behavioral shifts, financial exposure, and the underlying drivers of plan results.

Guide inputs and help set priorities for the Commission Program Architecture team through clear data transformation and insight into the results of each plan/program under review.

Lead annual strategic reviews and quarterly business reviews with divisional SVPs and EVPs, presenting analyses of attainment, payouts, compensation cost, sales productivity, behavioral outcomes, forecast variance, and emerging risks; identify improvement opportunities and recommend changes that align commission plans with business priorities.

Translate plan components and analytical objectives into documented data, calculation, reporting, and functional requirements for Technology and Incentive Compensation Management (ICM) partners.

Direct the development of KPI reporting, sales-management metrics, and analytical models beyond direct compensation measures to identify performance trends, behavioral drivers, operational gaps, and emerging risks; translate findings into actionable recommendations for business leaders.

Engage in the annual budgeting and forecasting process for sales commission expense, analyze actual results against plan, opportunities, and recommended actions to business and finance leaders.
