SI Platform Engineer, Terafab

Austin, TX In person Full-time

We are building Terafab, a vertically integrated semiconductor factory at an unprecedented scale. The facility houses logic, memory, packaging, test, and lithography mask production under one roof, optimized for rapid iteration and maximum compute density per square foot. We are seeking a highly driven AI Platform Engineer to join the Terafab core team, a high-leverage, multi-disciplinary team that owns the big picture for a first-of-its-kind fab build-out.

You will own full-stack, deeply integrated AI solutions that support Terafab — identifying high-impact opportunities, designing and building production AI applications, and deploying them to accelerate the program across supply chain, construction, engineering, finance, and more. You will dive into short-cycle projects, stay hands-on with the code and the program, and be personally accountable for delivering AI systems that remove blockers across the full lifecycle from development through production ramp.

Own end-to-end development of full-stack AI applications, harnesses, and context systems, prototyping, building, deploying, and iterating on solutions that accelerate Terafab operations and systematically eliminate delays Take technical ownership of AI-powered tools that solve engineering problems across fab, process, construction, and production Develop and integrate LLM-powered software, RAG pipelines, tool callers, and AI orchestration systems tightly coupled to Terafab workflows and data Collaborate cross-functionally to deeply integrate AI solutions into existing tools, processes, and teams for maximum impact and reliability Support pre, post, and RL training of large-scale language models to iteratively improve Grok's ability to support Terafab as our knowledge base grows Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related STEM discipline, or equivalent experience 5+ years of professional experience building and deploying full-stack applied AI solutions Experience deploying full-stack AI solutions, including training & inference infrastructure, harnesses, and best practices for real-world production systems Experience building production RAG pipelines, Model Context Protocol systems, vector databases, and AI orchestration Experience developing web services and distributed applications across cloud and on-premise networks, including Kubernetes, Linux environments, SSH, and scripting Experience owning and resolving technical problems in high-ambiguity, fast-moving environments where processes don't exist and requirements change frequently Strong critical thinking, first-principles problem solving, and a self-directed mentality Experience with manufacturing, semiconductor, or large-scale industrial operations Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program
