Tesla Manufacturing

Sr. Network Engineer, Automation, Datacenter Engineering

Fremont, CA In person Full-time

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to own day-to-day operations of the data center network and to drive refresh and infrastructure improvements. This role requires hands-on operational work, hardware migration/refresh planning, and configuration management, with an SRE mindset focused on standardization, visibility, stability, reliability, and availability. Own applications that call device APIs, inventory systems, and monitoring platforms, and keep them reliable for the engineers who operate Tesla data center networks Own Grafana coverage and the metrics behind device health, interfaces, optics, routing, and fabric congestion, and drive a fix when a panel does not match the device Validate streaming telemetry end to end — gNMI, syslog, and the pipelines around them — so operators see what the switch actually sends Keep source-of-truth data accurate: device inventory, roles and tags, prefixes, and onboarding records Own automated health checks for reachability, BGP, and interface metrics, and close gaps between telemetry and live device state Replace repetitive operational work with automation, including configuration template used in real changes Design agentic workflows that let engineers query network state through existing APIs, with tool-calling, guardrails, traces, and a deterministic fallback when the model is wrong Investigate noisy or missing metrics, write the runbook and the finding, and hold the bar in code review and CI/CD for network automation Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience 3-5 years operating or automating mid- to large-scale data center networks Deep command of IP networking: TCP/IP, BGP, VLANs, routing, and switching.

You can read a BGP session, a route, a CLI snapshot, and a graph and say which one is wrong Python you have run in production: parsing JSON and YAML, Jinja templating, and REST APIs, with tests and code review behind the change A record of chasing discrepancies across CLI output, logs, and dashboards through to a root cause and a durable fix Experience building how a network is observed — metrics, logs, and dashboards — and using that to change what operators do next Clear writing.

You can explain what a script or a dashboard is telling an operator, and leave a runbook someone else can execute Production work with BGP policy, QoS, and interface or optics metrics Ownership of Grafana, Prometheus/PromQL, or a similar observability stack (Kentik, Catchpoint) NetBox or another source-of-truth / IPAM system you have kept accurately under change Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Earned Wage Access: Real-time pay access paid daily, subject to eligibility and schedule (applicable for below Sr.
