As the Production Control Associate Automation Integration Engineer, you will collaborate on the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of autonomous material logistics to manufacturing lines with respect to safety, efficiency, cost and quality. Through true cross-departmental collaboration, our engineers design and implement AMR routes, fleet requirements, equipment needs, and automation of top hatting, put away, trailer picks, WIP rack stacking, and trailer unloading to convey raw material effectively and safely to the line.
The role is fully dedicated to AMR deployment and to scoping those autonomous implementations, launching on CyberCab and then deploying sustained applications to the current Model Y program and then Optimus. However, our job only begins with design. Through a continuous feedback loop with our operations team, we constantly evaluate and improve our processes to streamline material flow by eliminating non-value-added activities.
This never-ending persistence for excellence is a core value to our team and essential to achieving a World Class Manufacturing system. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Production/Process Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Logistics, Planning, Factory Software, and Equipment Engineering to design and improve autonomous material flow Oversee AMR deployment, data analytics, and continuous improvement for CyberCab, then Model Y, then Optimus Scope, prepare RFP/RFQ, and implement automation for top hatting, put away, trailer picks, WIP rack stacking, and trailer unloading Ensure AMR hardware and software meet ANSI safety standards before release and during sustained running Train AMR Technicians on Overmind fault recovery and keep training current as routes and fleet size change Analyze AMR and system data to report autonomous percentage and lead initiatives that raise it Optimize AMR deliveries per hour to reduce fleet size and minimize labor hours per unit (LHPU) Execute manpower calculations at various vehicle output rates and use Yamazumi’s to balance associate utilization Learn MFS and Overmind to configure systematic process flow to match defined physical processes Develop standard work for AMR deployment, fault recovery, put away, conveyance routes, and trailer unloading Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience Experience in material flow engineering, process engineering, automation, robotics, continuous improvement engineering, logistics, or manufacturing, including internship, co-op, or technician experience Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, logistics business systems, and pre-determined motion and time standards Experience in mining, collecting, cleansing and analyzing data using Excel, SQL, or other analytical tools.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD or a similar layout tool to support equipment placement and material flow layouts. Strong cross-functional collaboration skillsets to collectively work through problem solving. Demonstrated ability to utilize lean manufacturing tools to effectively analyze problems to their root cause and implement solutions. Previous World Class Manufacturing or Lean Manufacturing experience preferred Master’s degree in robotics, or hands-on experience with AMRs, AGVs, or industrial automation, preferred Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Earned Wage Access: Real-time pay access paid daily, subject to eligibility and schedule (applicable for below Sr.
