The Brydon Group Finance/FinTech

Private Equity Senior Associate (Spring 2027)

Washington, DC In person Full-time

The Brydon Group is a Washington, D.C.-based private equity firm that partners with exceptional executives to acquire, operate, and grow businesses in B2B, B2G, and healthcare software and services. We are currently investing from Fund III, which closed in July 2025. We are seeking outstanding candidates to join our investment team as Senior Associates , with a particular interest in post-MBA strategy consultants who want to transition into private equity investing.

This is an opportunity to move from advising businesses to investing in and building them. You will work directly with Brydon's Partners, investment professionals, and portfolio-company CEOs across the full investment lifecycle—from identifying attractive industries and sourcing acquisitions to evaluating investments, executing transactions, and helping our companies grow. Unlike more narrowly defined investment roles, our Senior Associates gain meaningful exposure to both investing and operating, with substantial responsibility, direct mentorship, and a steep learning curve.

We are passionate about developing exceptional investors and operators. We invest heavily in our team's technical capabilities, commercial judgment, leadership skills, and professional development, with significant opportunities for increasing responsibility and career advancement. Requirements What You'll Do Investment Sourcing and Strategy Conduct industry research, develop and test investment theses, and identify attractive acquisition opportunities.

Work closely with Brydon's CEO-in-Residence executives to identify potential platform acquisitions and develop strategies to build industry-leading businesses. Support and manage transaction pipelines, including direct engagement with business owners, intermediaries, and management teams. Investment Evaluation and Deal Execution Evaluate potential acquisitions, including commercial attractiveness, competitive positioning, financial performance, and opportunities for value creation.

Build financial models to assess investment returns, capital structures, and alternative operating and acquisition scenarios. Lead key diligence workstreams, including market assessment, customer analysis, commercial diligence, and financial evaluation. Develop investment committee memoranda and presentations, articulating clear investment recommendations, key risks, and value-creation opportunities. Work with deal teams through all stages of transaction execution, including LOIs, diligence, negotiations, financing, and closing.

Portfolio Company Value Creation Work directly with portfolio-company CEOs and management teams to develop and execute value-creation initiatives, including organic growth, pricing, operational improvement, and M&A. Support the execution of add-on acquisitions, from identifying opportunities through diligence and integration planning. Participate in portfolio-company board meetings, strategy discussions, and performance reviews.

Monitor portfolio-company performance and contribute to quarterly valuations and investor reporting. Who We're Looking For We are looking for intellectually curious, commercially minded, entrepreneurial professionals who want to develop into outstanding private equity investors. Ideal candidates will bring: Professional experience: 2+ years of post-MBA experience (including time in a team leadership role) at a leading strategy consulting firm, or equivalent experience in private equity, investment banking, or related investing roles.

Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to structure complex problems, evaluate businesses and industries, and translate analysis into clear, actionable recommendations. Strong commercial judgment: Genuine curiosity about how businesses work, what makes them successful, and how to create value through growth and operational improvement. Ownership and initiative: A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to take responsibility, work independently, and drive projects to completion.

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to build relationships with business owners, executives, and colleagues and communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively. A commitment to continuous learning: Intellectual humility, receptiveness to feedback, and the drive to develop new skills and capabilities. Experience in software, business services, healthcare, government, or aerospace and defense is a plus, but not required.

Prior private equity transaction or financial modeling experience is helpful, but we place greater emphasis on analytical ability, commercial judgment, and willingness to learn. Why Brydon? Learn the full private equity investment process. Develop hands-on experience across sourcing, investing, deal execution, and portfolio value creation rather than specializing in just one part of the investment lifecycle. Work directly with experienced investors and CEOs.

Our collaborative, entrepreneurial approach gives you significant exposure to senior decision-makers and real operating challenges. Develop as both an investor and an operator. Build the financial, strategic, commercial, and leadership capabilities required to evaluate investments and help grow businesses. Take on meaningful responsibility early. Our growing firm offers significant opportunities to own workstreams, develop investment judgment, and advance into increasingly senior roles.

Help build something. Join an ambitious, collaborative team focused on building great businesses, developing exceptional leaders, and creating long-term value. If you're a strategy consultant considering a transition into private equity—and are excited by the opportunity to develop as an investor while working closely with the leaders building and growing businesses—we'd love to hear from you. Benefits Location / Benefits Compensation: Commensurate with experience and expected to range from $275,000 - $350,000, with potential for carried interest in addition.
