About the role
The Business Development & Inside Sales Representative is a graduate entry point into enterprise technology sales at Ubisense. It is a dual role, and both halves matter equally.
Business development: you will qualify inbound leads and run structured outbound campaigns that create pipeline for the Account Executives.
Inside sales: you will own the day-to-day transactional business with existing customers and channel partners. This covers hardware, tag and spares orders, partner orders and demo kits, handled quickly and accurately from quote to delivery. It keeps customers well served and frees the Account Executives to focus on larger deals.
Closing new business stays with the sales team; this role makes sure they have the right opportunities to work on, and that existing customers get a fast, reliable service.
What you will do
- Business development
- •Manage inbound leads systematically: log, research and qualify each one, then pass qualified opportunities to the right Account Executive
- •Research target organisations and build contact lists of the right people to approach
- •Run structured outbound campaigns by email, phone and LinkedIn, following the team's campaign playbook, to open conversations and book first meetings
- •Measure every campaign against its targets and report on what worked
- •Support Ubisense at trade shows and industry events, and follow up event leads quickly
- Inside sales
- •Process smaller transactions with existing customers, such as hardware, tag and spares orders
- •Handle orders that come through channel partners with the same speed and accuracy as direct sales
- •Coordinate demo kit requests, dispatch and returns, and keep the demo kit log up to date
- •Prepare quotes and order paperwork, and keep customers informed through fulfilment
- •Support Account Executives with research, meeting preparation and follow-up
- Sales operations
- •Keep the CRM accurate and up to date, including contacts, activity and pipeline
- •Track your activity and conversion against agreed targets and report on them each week
- •Share what you learn from the market with sales and marketing
- Training and development
- •Structured onboarding on SmartSpace, our customers and our sales process
- •Regular coaching from the Head of Sales and experienced Account Executives
- •Joining customer meetings, demos and site visits to learn complex solution selling first-hand
- •A clear development path within sales as you show results
Skills and experience
Essential
- •A degree, or equivalent, in any subject
- •Clear, confident communication in writing and on the phone
- •Curiosity about technology and how businesses work
- •Organised and self-motivated, with the persistence to keep going when outreach doesn't land first time
- •Comfortable working to activity and pipeline targets
- •Right to work in the UK
- For inside sales specifically, we are looking for strong attention to detail, comfort with numbers, quotes and order paperwork, and a genuine customer-service mindset: getting the order right first time and keeping the customer informed.
Desirable
- •A business, engineering, science or technical degree
- •Any experience in sales, customer service, recruitment or another target-driven role, including internships or part-time work
- •Interest in manufacturing, automotive, pharma or transit
- •Familiarity with a CRM such as Salesforce or HubSpot, or with LinkedIn Sales Navigator
- •A European language alongside English, i.e. German, French or Spanish, to support customers and partners across Europe
- •A full UK driving licence
What we offer
- •Competitive graduate salary plus commission
- •Structured training and a clear development path in sales
- •Customers who are global leaders in their sectors
- •A small, experienced team where your impact is visible
- Ubisense is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from everyone and make reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process.
About Ubisense Limited
Ubisense is a company at the forefront of Industry 4.0 and the Industrial Internet-of-Things. We build products that transform physical space into “smart space”, enabling software to see, understand and participate in the real world of people and business activities. In so doing, we augment people and objects with new forms of insight and intelligence that make the environments we live and work in more productive, safe and profitable.
This unique ability to connect the physical to the digital has been our driving force for more than 18 years and has enabled Fortune 500 manufacturers like Daimler-Benz, Lockheed Martin and John Deere to revolutionise the way they build our cars, the most advanced aircraft and the machinery that grows our food.
We are a privately held company with around 65 employees, supporting customers across North America, Europe, UK, Japan and the Middle East. We have ambitious and well-funded growth plans, requiring talented people to help execute on our vision. We are looking for people who are interested in the future, who believe that technology will play a fundamental role in improving the world of tomorrow, and who want to be a part of making that happen.
