We are looking for a senior, hands-on Social Video Editor with excellent editorial judgment, strong social instincts and deep curiosity about what makes short-form video compelling. This is not a traditional corporate video role. This editor will help build trusted physicians, executives and employees into recognizable social voices, transforming their expertise, experiences and perspectives into useful, engaging videos for their own accounts and enterprise channels. The ideal candidate is curious about what makes a video rocket around the internet, stays immersed in evolving formats and continually tests which narrative, visual and audio techniques stop the scroll and increase engagement.
Working with both scripted and unscripted direct-to-camera material, the editor will find the strongest moments, shape the story and use pacing, captions, sound and supporting visuals to hold audience attention. We want someone who understands creator-led content and can make expert voices feel clear, human and native to social platforms without losing what makes each person distinctive.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities
Creative Quality & Production
- Incorporate feedback accurately and identify source-material or storytelling issues that may affect the finished video
- Maintain organized project files, assets and versions
- Ensure videos meet established standards for accessibility, accuracy, platform quality and the creator's brand
- Use audience performance data and other feedback to improve future edits
- Develop reusable templates and workflows while preserving each creator's individual style
- You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of video-editing experience, with a portfolio demonstrating excellent editorial judgment and short-form storytelling
- Experience creating original videos that incorporate video, images, graphics, audio and text for social media
- Solid editorial judgment and the ability to find the most compelling material within raw footage
- Deep understanding of creator-led content and the visual language of platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube
Preferred Qualifications
Experience editing expert-led, educational, journalistic or healthcare content
Demonstrated video editing skills in Adobe Premiere Pro or other professional video editing software. Experience with animation and design software such as After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop
Solid communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to contribute creative ideas, explain editorial choices, receive direction and work through feedback
Solid organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, versions and deadlines
*All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.
