The Role
The Attract team owns the public-facing UK Personal Investor (UKPI) websites — the acquisition and marketing experiences that prospective investors see before they log in. We build and run these sites as part of a large Nx monorepo of European retail and secure applications, shared UI libraries, and the infrastructure that serves them.
We work with modern, leading technologies including Angular, TypeScript, Node.js, HTML, CSS and Java, content managed through Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), all deployed on Amazon Web Services (AWS) behind a multi-layer edge stack (Imperva CDN, CloudFront, Kong). We follow CI/CD best practices on GitHub Actions, maintain shared component libraries (including Storybook), and lean strongly toward test-driven development (TDD).
Tech Leads can expect a visible role implementing changes to complex, high-traffic experiences at the centre of Vanguard's UK growth strategy. Candidates should enjoy a fast-paced group that builds, supports, and enhances applications used by millions of investors.

Core Responsibilities
Technical Leadership Provide expert-level technical direction for the public UKPI web estate — Angular front-ends, Node.js services, and AEM-authored content. Lead design, development, and implementation across the monorepo's apps and shared libraries.
Solution Architecture & Governance Define and enforce architectural standards (module boundaries, shared-library design, SSR/rendering strategy) that align with Vanguard's technology strategy. Maintain governance and documentation for integrations, build pipelines, and content/data models.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Partner with marketing, content authors, designers, and platform teams to deliver scalable, performant, accessible experiences. Translate business and campaign requirements into sound technical decisions and communicate the trade-offs.
Quality Assurance & Compliance Conduct code reviews, testing, and validation to ensure functionality, performance, accessibility, security, and compliance with IT and Information Security policies — including the edge/CDN and authentication boundaries that protect the public sites.
Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing Mentor engineers, promote best practices across the monorepo, and ensure adherence to shared standards. Drive continuous improvement and foster a culture of learning.
Documentation Excellence Create and maintain clear technical documentation — architecture diagrams, integration and deployment guides, and operational runbooks — that stay accurate and accessible as the platform evolves.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve the public-site capability through new tooling, automation, build/caching improvements, and rendering/performance enhancements.
