Group Strategy Director - Maternity Cover FTC

The Role

We are looking for a strategic leader to join us on a 12-month maternity cover, with proven experience working as a trusted advisor to senior clients across both B2B and B2C brands, with a particular focus on financial services and consumer. A natural driver of excellence, you will bring a rich history of strategic thinking and commercial acumen and provide leadership support to the Head of Strategy, driving best practices across the agency and forging even closer connections with our award-winning creative team.

What you will provide for your clients

• Responsible for a stable of clients that are successful, highly satisfied and growing
• Provide a strategic vision for every client and every campaign you oversee, through clear strategies that you help embed within the account teams
• Suggest and drive new strategies and ideas to help clients achieve their business and marketing/comms goals, keep them at the leading edge of their sectors and in tune with their audience’s demands and expectations
• Consistently provide solutions to the thorniest marketing/comms problems that clients pose us
• Excellent presentation skills that persuade effectively and deliver brilliant insight and advice at senior levels, including board level

What you will bring to the team

• Regularly lead on new business end-to-end, from the initial brief to the winning pitch and then looking after the client as an ongoing account
• Excellent people management skills that helps recruit, motivate and develop brilliant talent for the team
• Work with the Head of Strategy on team development and training, improving working practices and keeping us at the cutting edge of industry thinking

What you will bring to our agency

• Identify incremental revenue opportunities for the agency from current and new clients
• Provide leadership on behalf of the Strategy & Planning team and act as an ambassador for best-in-class comms and marketing strategy, measurement and campaigns across the agency, in conjunction with other senior management team members
• Work with the Head of Strategy and other members of the board to implement new processes and ways of working for the entire agency
• Take an active, positive part in our agency culture and help drive Roar’s own marketing and social activity

Responsibilities

• Client strategy: Partner with client service directors to guide account strategy and supporting clients to identify new comms or commercial opportunities
• Creative direction and oversight: Set strategic ambition on core campaigns, directing teams and ensuring comms and creative effectiveness
• Senior client counsel: Provide senior and c-suite level guidance to clients, lead strategy workshops and define measurement frameworks to prove effectiveness
• New business leadership: Lead key pitches across VCCP Roar, from defining the job to do to delivering
• Foresight & team leadership: Working alongside the Head of Strategy and other Strategy Directors, provide outside-in thinking to processes and best practices

Skills Required

• Strong communicator and copywriter, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly
• Experience working with both B2B and B2C brands
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills at a senior level
• Data-driven mindset with the ability to use insights to inform decisions
• Natural collaborator
