The Gig
The Manager, Commercial Planning & Brand Standards leads Virgin Voyages' Continuous Improvement (CI) program and owns execution of the department's highest-priority commercial initiatives. This role directs CI initiatives across both shipboard and shoreside domains, translates survey and performance data into implementation-ready solutions, and personally leads delivery of larger, cross-cutting program initiatives on behalf of the Director.
This role is both a program-execution leader and a people leader: the ideal candidate will manage and develop the Shipboard and Shoreside CI Leads, own portfolio-wide visibility into every commercial initiative in flight — including those delivered by the Commercial Planning Managers — and serve as the connective layer between what the data reveals and what gets built. They partner closely with the Commercial Planning Managers to keep cross-team work aligned.
This gig is based at VVHQ - our swanky Virgin Voyages Head Office in Plantation, FL where we follow a hybrid work environment. We can't wait to 'sea' you in person during our Collaboration Days, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, while you enjoy Mondays and Fridays' as remote days.
What You'll Be Up To
- Manage, coach, and develop direct reports.
- Set Continuous Improvement priorities and direction based on Commercial Analytics data, survey findings, and brand standards performance; direct initiatives through to root cause.
- Translate CI findings into implementation-ready solutions with clear business cases, and hand off approved solutions to the appropriate Commercial Planning Manager for execution.
- Establish and maintain QA standards and observation cadence across shipboard and shoreside operations; ensure QA findings feed back into CI initiative priorities.
- Personally lead delivery of larger, cross-cutting program initiatives assigned by the Director, acting as hands-on program lead from planning through launch.
- Own portfolio-wide tracking: maintain a single source of truth on the status, risks, and dependencies of every commercial initiative in flight, including those owned by the Commercial Planning Managers.
- Convene and lead a recurring coordination forum with the Commercial Planning Managers to surface dependencies, align priorities, and balance workload across areas.
- Prepare portfolio dashboards and initiative status reports to support the Director's monthly and quarterly reporting to senior leadership and the VP.
- Escalate strategic risks, resourcing conflicts, or blockers to the Director when they exceed the scope of coordination.
Superpowers Required
- Bachelor's Degree required (Business, Operations, or related field); relevant certifications (PMP, SAFe, Lean/Six Sigma) a plus.
- 5-7+ years of experience spanning continuous improvement/quality programs and program or portfolio management, ideally with direct experience translating data into operational solutions and delivering large-scale initiatives.
- 2+ years of people leadership experience; skilled at coaching, feedback, and team development.
- Strong analytical skills; comfortable working with survey data, guest feedback, and commercial performance metrics to set investigation priorities.
- Proven track record leading complex, cross-functional program delivery from planning through execution.
- Experience with business initiative intake, prioritization frameworks, or portfolio management (SAFe, Agile, or similar).
- Experience with Airtable, Jira, Qualtrics, or similar CI/QA and project management tools.
- Hospitality, cruise, or travel industry experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent communicator: able to present portfolio and investigation status to senior leadership, translate data into clear direction for both analysts and operators, and lead cross-functional collaboration without formal authority
