This role focuses on ensuring secure, reliable and efficient platform operations, including production support, troubleshooting NiFi and Kafka data flows, platform upgrades, configuration management, monitoring and automation. You will work across application, infrastructure, operations and support teams to resolve complex platform and ETL issues while maintaining service availability and performance.

You will bring hands-on Big Data administration expertise, strong UNIX/Linux troubleshooting capabilities and an automation-focused approach using Ansible and Shell scripting.

What you’ll do

  • Own the day-to-day administration, monitoring and operational support of Cloudera Hadoop, Apache Kafka and Apache NiFi platforms supporting critical applications.
  • Troubleshoot NiFi and Kafka data-flow and ETL failures, including processor, connectivity, schema, throughput and data-flow issues, and perform structured root-cause analysis.
  • Coordinate with application, infrastructure, operations and support teams to restore services and resolve cross-platform incidents.
  • Plan and execute platform upgrades, patching, configuration changes and health checks, validating changes while minimising operational risk.
  • Monitor platform performance, resource utilisation, availability and capacity, identifying opportunities to improve service stability.
  • Develop and maintain operational automation using Ansible and Shell scripting, reducing repetitive manual activities and improving consistency.
  • Maintain platform standards, technical documentation, capacity reviews and continuous-improvement actions.
  • Apply independent technical judgement during incidents, upgrades and platform changes to select safe and effective remediation approaches.

Who you are

Strong hands-on experience administering Cloudera Hadoop, Apache Kafka and Apache NiFi in production environments.

Practical knowledge of NiFi and Kafka flow-based ETL, with experience troubleshooting processor, connectivity, schema, throughput and data-flow errors.

Excellent UNIX/Linux administration knowledge, including process management, resource scheduling, storage, networking and security fundamentals.

Strong knowledge of the Hadoop ecosystem, particularly HDFS, YARN, HBase, Apache Hive and Impala.

Experience using Ansible for configuration management, complex installations and repeatable operational processes.

Strong Shell scripting skills for platform administration, monitoring and automation.

Effective production troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities.

A collaborative approach to stakeholder communication, with the ability to take ownership of critical services and work effectively across technical teams.

An analytical, detail-oriented and proactive approach to resolving operational issues.

A degree or higher qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline, together with relevant hands-on Big Data platform administration and production-support experience.

Experience with platform monitoring, capacity planning, security hardening and disaster-recovery activities is preferred.

A Cloudera certification is desirable.
