About the NATS Program

This role is offered under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS), a flagship initiative of the Government of India designed to equip Indian youth with practical, trade-specific skills. Administered under the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961 (amended in 1973), this program at Volvo Group offers engineering graduates and diploma holders a structured, 1-year practical, hands-on On-the-Job Training (OJT) opportunity to build industry-ready capabilities.

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and analytical Graduate Apprentice Trainee (GAT) – Data Science to join our Data Science and Analytics team.

This entry-level role provides fresh graduates with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data preparation, analytics, visualisation, statistical modelling, Machine Learning and AI. The selected candidate will work under the guidance of experienced Data Scientists and collaborate with business and technical teams to understand business challenges and support data-driven decision-making.

We value curiosity, logical thinking and a willingness to learn. Prior work experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in collecting, cleaning, transforming and validating data from different sources.
• Prepare and analyse datasets using Python, SQL and tools such as Databricks.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends and useful insights.
• Support the development and testing of basic analytical and Machine Learning models for forecasting, prediction and classification.
• Assist in building dashboards, reports and visualisations using Power BI or similar tools.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists and business teams to understand requirements and support data-driven solutions.
• Document data sources, assumptions, analysis and key findings.
• Contribute to data-quality improvements and identify opportunities to apply Data Science, Machine Learning and AI to business challenges.
• Communicate findings clearly through reports, dashboards and presentations.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.

Basic understanding of statistics, probability and data analysis concepts.

Basic programming knowledge in Python.

Familiarity with SQL and fundamental database concepts.

Introductory understanding of Machine Learning and its applications.

Strong logical-thinking and problem-solving skills.

Willingness to learn new tools and technologies and apply analytical thinking to practical business problems.
