Hudson, OH +1 In person Full-time
  • Job Title: Finance Business Process Manager
  • Job Function: Finance
  • Reports To: Senior Director of Pricing & Financial Planning Analysis
  • Classification: Exempt
  • Date Approved/Revised: 10/28/2026

Summary

The Finance Business Process Manager identifies, quantifies, and captures opportunities to improve margin, reduce cost, and shorten cycle times across the company’s locations and business units. The role analyzes and reconciles data from company systems to establish accurate current-state baselines, builds the business case for change, designs future-state processes, partners with process owners to put them in place, and confirms results after implementation. It also builds process and reporting that scale with the company’s growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Employee must be able to perform these essential functions of the position satisfactorily and, if requested, reasonable accommodations may be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job, absent undue hardship.

Quantitative Analysis: Pull large, messy datasets from multiple systems, reconcile them, and turn them into a clear answer leadership can act on.

Financial Quantification: Translate findings into the measures the business is run on — gross margin, cost per order and per line, freight and handling cost as a percentage of revenue, inventory carrying cost and turns, working capital and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) effect — so every recommendation carries a number finance recognizes.

Current-State Documentation: Map how a process actually runs today — the steps, the owners, the handoffs, the workarounds and the exceptions — and quantify what each one costs in dollars, hours and errors.

Go Where the Work Happens: Observe processes first-hand and learn from the people running them — the system data shows what was recorded, and they will show what was actually done.

Root Cause Analysis: Apply structured root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto, DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control), A3) to separate what is actually driving a problem from what is merely correlated with it, and validate the conclusion with data before acting.

Financial Results Analysis: Dissect margin by product line, customer, location and channel, examine accruals and reserves for whether they reflect the underlying activity, and explain what the monthly and quarterly results are actually telling us about how the business is running.

Pricing Support: Provide the cost and margin analysis behind pricing decisions — landed cost, freight recovery, discounting and rebate effect, margin by segment and customer.

Cost Allocation and Costing Methodology: Strengthen cost allocation and costing methodology. Understand how costs are assigned across locations, business units and individual orders, and test whether the methodology still matches how the business operates today, proposing and documenting updates wherever it has fallen behind.

Requirements and Business Case: Work with process owners and leadership to define what the process needs to do, present a recommendation with quantified impact, cost, effort, risk and payback, with the effect on the profit and loss statement (P&L) clearly stated.

Future-State Designs: Define the new processes, the roles, the handoffs, the controls and the systems needed for the changes.

Implementation and Adoption: Run the pilot or trial, adjust it, write the standard operating procedure (SOP), train the team and stay involved until the new way of working is the normal way of working.

Standardization Across Locations: Turn a proven improvement at one location into a documented standard that every location can run and support the rollout.

Systems Improvement: Partner with information technology (IT) and operations to redesign system workflows, reduce manual touches, and simplify how work moves between teams and systems.

AI-Enabled Analysis: Use artificial intelligence (AI) tools — Claude in particular — to interrogate large datasets, reconstruct how a process actually runs today, draft and pressure-test future-state designs, and automate the analysis and documentation that would otherwise eat weeks. Be the strongest AI user in the company and cross train the rest of the organization.

Performance Measurement Automation: Build automated key performance indicator (KPI) reporting and dashboards covering both operational and financial measures that leadership can trust and act on between month-end, quarter-end and year-end closes.

Finance Partnership: Supply the operational analysis behind budgets, forecasts and variance explanations, for complete understanding from the team.

Results Verification: Return to completed work, confirm the savings or margin improvement landed in the P&L, and correct drift where needed.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Complies with the requirements of the company’s ISO 9001 Quality Management System (when required).

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, climb, bend and kneel on an occasional basis.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Regular manual dexterity/coordination: hand/eye movements, motor control.
  • Regular visual effort: concentrated reading of documentation or close viewing of computer displays.
  • Able to push, pull and lift up to 15 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to travel to company locations and warehouses as projects require.

Potential Hazards

  • This position is not exposed to any hazardous substances.
  • Competencies necessary to perform this job
  • Curious and Direct: Genuinely enjoys asking why a process works the way it does; can walk into a department they have never worked in, earn the trust of the people there, and leave it working better — with that team glad they came.
  • Data-Driven: Starts with the data but does not stop there. A clean analysis of the wrong problem is still the wrong answer.
  • Bias Toward Action: A good improvement running next month beats a perfect one running next year.
  • Comfortable With Ambiguity: Plenty of work will arrive as “this number looks interesting” rather than a defined scope; enjoys shaping it.
  • Brings People Along: Wins agreement through evidence and relationships rather than reporting lines.
  • Follow-Through: Judged on what is still working six months later.
  • Integrity: Maintain high ethical standards; communicate expectations to employees.
  • Safety and Security: Follow safety policies/plans and promote safe working habits to employees.

Required Education/Experience/Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics, Operations Management, Finance or a similar field.

Four to eight years in business analysis, process improvement, operations analytics, industrial engineering or finance, with projects personally analyzed and implemented that can be discussed in detail.

Strong analytical and data skills: advanced Excel, Structured Query Language (SQL) or equivalent, comfort pulling and reconciling large datasets across systems, and the judgment to know when a number is wrong.

Demonstrated ability to lead formal root cause analysis on complex, cross-functional problems and defend the conclusion with data.

Experience documenting and redesigning business processes end to end — current-state mapping, requirements, future-state design — and carrying the change through to adoption.

Financial literacy: can read a P&L, understand how a process change lands on it, and express a recommendation in the terms finance uses.

Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma or comparable continuous improvement methods — value stream mapping, standard work, DMAIC, statistical problem-solving.

Experience working inside enterprise business systems and improving how work moves through them. Direct experience with major cloud enterprise resource planning (ERP) and business intelligence (BI) platforms is a significant advantage, and the ability to learn a new system quickly is essential.

Practical fluency with AI tools, or clear evidence of getting there fast. We use Claude across the business and expect this role to apply it daily to data analysis, process discovery, documentation and redesign — and to have an informed view of where AI genuinely helps and where it does not.

The ability to explain a technical finding to a warehouse supervisor, a controller and an owner in the same meeting, and have all three understand it.

Willingness to travel to our locations and warehouses as projects require.

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or a related graduate degree.
  • Process documentation and SOP development across multiple sites.
  • Experience in a multi-entity or multi-brand organization.
  • Certifications, Licensees or Registrations Required/Preferred
  • Preferred: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
