Woodside Energy Energy

Commercial LNG Trade Senior Operator

Singapore, Singapore In person Full-time

About the Role

We are looking for a Commercial LNG Trade Senior Operator based in Singapore. The role plays a pivotal role in supporting Woodside Energy Trading Singapore's LNG trading activities, partnering closely with LNG Traders to ensure the seamless execution of cargoes across the global value chain. Acting as the key interface between traders and a broad network of stakeholders, including shipping, scheduling, cargo operations, and counterparties, this role is responsible for managing the end-to-end commercial workflow from deal capture through to delivery.

By proactively managing operational risks, resolving issues in real time, and ensuring flawless execution, the Commercial LNG Trade Operator enables traders to focus on maximizing value while delivering safe, reliable, and efficient trading outcomes.

This role acts as the “control tower” for LNG cargo execution, ensuring that complex global transactions are delivered efficiently while protecting value. A highly competent operator can materially impact trading performance by minimising disruptions and unlocking optimisation opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Manage the end-to-end commercial execution of physical LNG cargoes, ensuring trades are accurately captured, executed in line with contractual obligations, and delivered safely and efficiently.

Act as the primary coordination point between LNG Traders and key stakeholders, including cargo operations, shipping, scheduling, risk, finance, treasury, legal teams, and counterparties.

Monitor cargo movements and critical milestones, proactively managing schedule changes, delivery adjustments, and evolving operational requirements to support seamless execution.

Lead the resolution of cargo execution challenges, coordinating cross-functional teams to address diversions, delays, swaps, supply chain disruptions, contractual issues, and scheduling conflicts.

Support LNG trading and portfolio optimisation activities by facilitating cargo diversions, timing adjustments, destination optimisation, and other value-enhancing opportunities.

Identify operational risks and constraints, develop contingency plans, and drive commercially focused solutions to protect portfolio value while maintaining contractual compliance.

Maintain accurate and timely LNG trade and cargo scheduling data across Woodside trading systems, reconcile information between commercial, operational and financial platforms, and deliver regular reporting on cargo status, execution performance and key operational risks.

Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, terminal operators, counterparties, and internal stakeholders, acting as the primary commercial interface for LNG Traders during cargo execution and operational events while ensuring customer requirements are met in alignment with portfolio value and trading objectives.

Skills and Experience

  • 5–10+ years’ experience in LNG, gas or oil trading operations.
  • Strong understanding of LNG logistics, contracts and market dynamics.
  • A degree qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong commercial mindset with ability to link operations to P&L impact.
  • Proven track record managing complex cargo chains and resolving operational issues.
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills and influencing capability to manage complex commercial issues and build credibility across a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to operate independently in a fast-paced trading environment, effectively prioritising competing demands, making sound decisions within delegated authority, and delivering outcomes under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills, coupled with high levels of cross-cultural awareness, attention to detail, organisational capability, and a flexible, team-oriented approach to supporting evolving business needs.
  • Recognition and Reward
