Company Description
As a leading global investment management firm, AB fosters diverse perspectives and embraces innovation to help our clients navigate the uncertainty of capital markets. Our ambition is simple: to be our clients’ most valued asset-management partner.
Manager, People Operations
As Manager, People Operations, you will lead a team that delivers timely, accurate, and compliant support across employee inquiries and core People processes. This role will help centralize and streamline global support by assessing current work, driving consistent ways of working, and translating the needs of People teams into scalable day-to-day execution. The ideal candidate is a hands-on HR Operations generalist who has developed within a centralized service environment and brings direct expertise in multiple specialized support areas.
You will oversee daily operations, build team capability, strengthen service standards, and lead the team through growth, change, process transitions, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
Lead, coach, and develop a team that supports both specialized HR administration and generalized employee lifecycle support across U.S., EMEA, and evolving global service needs.
Provide hands-on operational leadership across benefits administration, global mobility and immigration, time off and leave administration, and vendor management support, while ensuring effective delivery of broader People services.
Help shape and implement the future-state service delivery model by assessing current work, defining the appropriate scope for centralized support, establishing workflows, clarifying ownership, and reinforcing consistent service standards.
Oversee day-to-day team operations, including intake, workload balancing, case prioritization, and service continuity across a growing and changing portfolio of work.
Monitor productivity, service quality, and operational performance; identify trends, gaps, and process issues, and take action to improve outcomes and reduce risk.
Serve as the primary escalation point for complex or sensitive employee matters, exercising sound judgment to resolve issues independently where appropriate and escalating risk, policy, or stakeholder concerns when needed.
Ensure accurate and compliant execution through quality reviews, adherence to policies and standard operating procedures, internal controls, audit readiness, and timely corrective action.
Maintain clear, current process documentation and standard operating procedures, particularly as work transitions into the centralized team or expands across regions.
Build team capability through ongoing coaching, cross-training, structured knowledge transfers, and day-to-day guidance that reinforces accountability, responsiveness, and consistent service.
Partner closely with People Business Partners, Payroll, Benefits, Legal and other key stakeholders to resolve cross-functional issues, improve handoffs, and support smooth execution of People processes.
Use data and operational insights to identify recurring issues, capacity constraints, and service trends, and translate findings into actionable recommendations that improve efficiency, consistency, and service quality.
Identify opportunities to standardize, streamline, and automate manual processes, improve team tools and documentation, and support the continued centralization of key People functions.
Lead the team through process transitions, policy or system changes, and service expansion while maintaining continuity, quality, and stakeholder confidence
What We're Looking For
5+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources Operations, Shared Services, Employee Services, or a similar centralized service environment, including experience executing processes on behalf of internal stakeholders and hands-on responsibility for complex employee lifecycle work in a fast-paced organization.
Direct experience in at least two of the following specialized areas within the U.S. and/or EMEA: benefits administration, global mobility/immigration, time off and leave of absence administration, or vendor management support. Benefits administration experience is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated leadership experience, including direct supervision, coaching, performance management, cross-training, and development of teams operating in a high-volume service environment supporting high-touch employee populations.
Working knowledge of compliance, controls, documentation, and risk considerations associated with HR administration across the U.S. and/or EMEA.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility, influence decisions, and work effectively across multiple levels of the organization.
Sound operational judgment and discretion, with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, handle sensitive employee matters and escalations with accuracy and confidentiality, and escalate issues involving risk, policy, or broader stakeholder impact.
Strong analytical and process improvement skills, including experience using operational data to identify trends, assess capacity, determine root causes, and recommend scalable solutions.
Experience using HRIS, case management, and workflow tools to support operational effectiveness; advanced familiarity with Workday is strongly preferred.
Ability to operate effectively in a globally connected, U.S.-based corporate environment, balancing regional requirements with consistent service standards and scalable ways of working.
