About the role
Application deadline: Oct 17, 2026 At Amazon, Principal Engineers are both technical thought leaders and hands-on builders. As Amazon's most senior individual contributors, Principal Engineers work on our hardest problems, help establish technical standards, and drive the overall technical architecture, engineering practices, and engineering methodologies for products that delight our customers. The Devices Global Retail Tech organization is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to lead multiple cross-organizational initiatives spanning financial systems automation, device farm, and leading genAI initiatives.
Financial System Automation (DFSA) team own the consolidated technical architecture that transforms how Devices & Services (D&S) businesses set up and operate their financial systems. D&S launches a fast-growing portfolio — Alexa, Fire TV, Ring, Blink, eero, Kindle, Appstore, Amazon Smart Vehicles, and more — and every new business launch requires financial record-keeping (FRK) setup spanning the entire fintech domains from contract review, business requirements, tax classification, accounting entries, billing and payments.
Generative AI is central to our strategy. We are building a Gen AI–powered automation platform that takes a product or partner deal from initial idea to a live, automated financial record-keeping capability — using large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, and agentic workflows to draft contracts, requirements, engineering specifications, and code that previously took teams months to produce. As Principal Engineer, you will define and drive the multi-year, org-wide architecture for this platform: unifying fragmented workflows into scalable, flexible, and compliant FinTech solutions, and setting the technical direction for how Gen AI is applied safely and accurately across financial systems.
This is a strategic role with impact across not just the the entire Devices & Services organization, but also stakeholders across Digital, Ads and Consumer teams that leverage this solution to accelerate the FRK timeline from months to days and enabling every D&S business to launch and monetize faster. Amazon Device Farm (ADF) is the one entry point for every device type and setup at Amazon, providing the device signal that fuels the fast feedback loops autonomous agentic systems and builders need for product development.
ADF provides agents and builders unified, elastic device capacity across all labs, configured on demand, with functionality, reliability, and scale teams require to ship products to customers faster and to higher quality. As a core leader, your work makes an impact across the Devices and Services org. You'll work in a fast-paced, collaborative culture that offers more opportunities to take risks, extend your skills, and collaborate to create custom solutions that delight our customers and advance our technology.
