Amazon Healthcare Security (HealthSec) protects patient data across Amazon Health Services. We are looking for Software Development Engineers to build the platforms that let our security agents and engineers work at machine speed without compromising how that data is handled. You will design, build and operate production services on AWS. Two areas need you most. The first is Context Fabric, the governed data control plane our security agents use to read and write security context, with entitlement, classification and audit on every call. The second is access-control enforcement for patient data: integrating Amazon’s attribute-based access control platform into healthcare services, with shadow-mode rollout, fail-closed behavior and clinical override paths. You will own features end to end, from design through on-call, and work with security engineers who turn their judgment into rules your systems enforce. Key job responsibilities

  • Design, implement and deploy secure, highly available services and APIs on AWS (for example API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, Fargate and Step Functions)
  • Build integrations with Amazon security systems such as Shepherd, Veritas and attribute-based access control, with clear failure behavior and observability
  • Write design documents and lead design reviews for features you own; review peers’ code and designs
  • Build testing into the work: unit and integration tests, mutation-tested guards, and canary or shadow rollouts before enforcement
  • Operate what you build, including metrics, alarms, runbooks and on-call
  • Use AI coding assistants and agentic tooling as part of how you build, and help shape how the team uses them About the team HealthSec Foundry is the security backbone for Amazon Health Services (AHS): Amazon Pharmacy, One Medical, PillPack and Virtual Health Services. We build the tooling, automation, platforms and pipelines that let AHS scale securely, and we build them AI-first. Our work includes Context Fabric, the governed data control plane for HealthSec’s security agents; agent-based security tooling that delivers guidance and fixes inside builders’ IDEs and code reviews; and access-control enforcement for patient data built on Amazon’s attribute-based access control platform. We serve every HealthSec pillar and partner with Amazon-wide security programs rather than duplicating them. Diverse Experiences Amazon Security values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply. If your career is just starting, hasn’t followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don’t let it stop you from applying. Why Amazon Security?
