AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables affecting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
The APJC Data Center Capacity Delivery (DCCD) Construction PMO is looking for a Cost Program Manager to own and mature cost management as a discipline across the full data center project lifecycle. This role covers both Pre-Construction and Construction and drives cost initiatives at the DCCD organisational level. You won’t control cost on a single project. You will build and govern the system that our cost teams work within: the processes, standards, data, tools, reporting and training behind cost planning and cost control across Asia Pacific.
You will support Pre-Construction Cost Planners, Cost Control Cost Engineers and Construction Managers, and work closely with Global Cost Control, Global Tooling, Procurement and Finance. The ideal candidate knows construction cost well, has a strong bias toward automation and standardisation, and can lead change across multiple teams and regions. Key job responsibilities Cost Management Manual: Lead the revamp of the Cost Management Manual and maintain in the long term.
Make processes more regionally focused while keeping the alignment with global processes to support upstream reporting. Global BID template: Revamp and standardise the global BID template so cost control teams work from an agreed baseline, with flexibility for regional breakdowns. Cost reporting: Restructure and automate Quarterly Business Review and Monthly Business Review cost reporting, aligned globally reporting to VP level.
Cost planning, estimating and control tool: Develop an end-to-end tool in phases, starting with a repository of BAFO and Final Cost data integrated with the Procurement Platform. This gives Cost Planners historical averages to build estimates at DD and early design and set the Budget. DCCD and Data Center Planning and Delivery (DCPD) cost initiatives: Support DCCD and DCPD cost initiatives and lead cost-related discussions at DCCD level.
Legacy tool deprecation: Lead the retirement of legacy tools to reduce tool fragmentation and maintenance effort. Integrated financial management tool: Partner with Global Tooling and Cost Control to deliver an integrated financial management tool, including integration with the internal financial system. Change order categories: Revamp change order categorisation. Consolidate the root-cause-of-change taxonomy and standardise categories across tools, so change orders are classified in the same way region-wide and support year-on-year trend analysis.
Cost training and development: Develop and deliver cost training, including setting up the Amazon Learn Cost Training cohort. Governance: Run cost governance and audit across the region, and give ad-hoc process and tooling support to cost teams. Metrics: Define, track and report program KPIs, including adoption of standards, data quality, reporting automation and tool rollout milestones. A day in the life You might start the day with Cost Planners reviewing how historical BAFO data feeds into a new estimate, then join a Global Tooling working session on the integrated financial management tool.
In the afternoon you could be finalising the half-yearly VP cost pack, agreeing change order root-cause categories with Cost Control Engineers, or running a training session for a new cohort. You will use data to tell the business what it shows, earn trust across teams, and push for simpler, automated ways of working.
