FBA-Segment Growth & Acceleration is an organization with a multi-year charter to accelerate Fulfillment by Amazon's growth into its largest untapped product segments. We focus on categories where FBA has large addressable opportunity, but where structural barriers have kept penetration far below potential. Those barriers include cost economics, fulfillment complexity, catalog limitations and seller trust gaps. Our portfolio spans heavy and bulky goods, premium electronics and appliances, multi-component products, and Amazon Business supply chain.
We are looking for a Software Development Manager to build and lead an engineering team that contributes across all of our mission areas: non-sort economics, high-ASP seller trust, multi-box fulfillment, seller growth and B2B supply chain. You will hire, grow and lead a team of software engineers. You will turn ambiguous business problems into clear technical roadmaps, and you will deliver programs that depend on systems owned by other organizations.
Because your team works across the whole portfolio, you will decide where engineering effort goes as priorities change. You will also build shared capabilities and platforms that more than one mission can reuse. The role needs strength in two areas. First, you will run a high-performing team with strong engineering and operational standards. Second, you will drive delivery across organizational boundaries, aligning partner teams in catalog, fulfillment, pricing, seller experience and transportation on shared plans, dependencies and launch dates.
You will work closely with Product, Program Management, Science and Principal Engineering partners across every mission to decide what we build, in what order, and how we measure success. Key job responsibilities * Hire, develop and retain a team of software engineers. Set clear expectations, give regular feedback and build career growth paths. * Own the technical roadmap and delivery for your team's work across all mission areas, from problem definition and design through launch and operations.
Balance competing priorities and decide where engineering capacity goes based on business impact. * Identify common needs across missions and build shared services, tooling and data foundations, so the organization does not build the same capability more than once. * Drive programs that span several organizations. Negotiate dependencies, set up shared plans and milestones, and escalate early when timelines are at risk. * Keep a high bar for operational excellence: service availability, on-call health, ticket SLAs, security and COE follow-through. * Raise engineering quality through design reviews, code review standards, testing and well-architected practices. * Help shape the culture, mechanisms and operating model of a founding engineering organization. * Use AI and automation to improve developer productivity and the products the team builds. - 3+ years of engineering team management experience - 7+ years of engineering experience - 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience - Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations - Experience partnering with product or program management teams - Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems - Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy - Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
