- Location: Manchester
- Contract: 6-month Fixed Term Contract
- Working Pattern: Full-time
- We’re looking for an Accounts Receivable Resolution Specialist to join our Finance team, taking ownership of complex invoice queries, disputed debt and accounts receivable issues across our UK and US operations.
- This is a finance-focused role, so we’re specifically looking for someone with experience within Accounts Receivable, Credit Control, Billing, Finance Operations or a similar transactional finance environment.
- You’ll work across customer accounts to investigate why invoices haven’t been paid, resolve complex billing and payment disputes, reduce aged debt and ensure outstanding issues are progressed through to resolution.
- We’re particularly interested in people who are comfortable working with customer invoices, AR ledgers, aged debt, billing systems and customer portals, and who enjoy investigating the detail behind finance queries.
What you’ll be doing
- Managing accounts receivable and invoice disputes from initial query through to resolution
- Reviewing aged debt and outstanding customer balances
- Investigating disputed, rejected or unpaid invoices
- Identifying why invoices haven’t been paid and what is required to resolve them
- Working closely with Credit Control, Billing, Sales, Operations and Finance teams
- Supporting the collection and resolution of overdue and disputed debt
- Monitoring outstanding disputes and escalating high-value or complex issues
- Using customer portals to upload invoices, retrieve information and investigate payment issues
- Maintaining accurate records of disputes, invoice queries and actions taken
- Investigating recurring billing or payment issues to identify their root cause
- Recommending improvements to finance processes and controls to reduce repeat disputes
- Supporting activity across both UK and US accounts
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in transactional finance who is comfortable investigating complex invoice and payment issues.
Ideally, you’ll have
Experience within Accounts Receivable, Credit Control, Billing or Finance Operations
Hands-on experience managing customer invoices and aged debt
Experience investigating and resolving invoice queries, payment issues or disputes
Understanding of AR ledgers, outstanding balances and the collections process
Experience using customer portals for invoicing, payments or query resolution
Confidence dealing directly with customers regarding outstanding or disputed invoices
Experience using finance systems such as Oracle, Ariba or Fusion would be beneficial
Strong Excel and reporting skills
Excellent attention to detail
Confidence working across multiple systems and stakeholders
A proactive approach and strong sense of ownership.
What will make you stand out?
You’ll combine a strong Accounts Receivable / Credit Control mindset with an investigative approach.
Rather than simply chasing overdue invoices, you’ll be comfortable getting into the detail: Is there a billing discrepancy? Is information missing? Has the invoice been rejected through a customer portal? Is there a PO or approval issue? What needs to happen to get the invoice paid?
Most importantly, you’ll take ownership of the issue through to resolution and look for ways to prevent the same finance problems happening again.
