The Role

  • You will serve as Legal Counsel for the
  • entire Anchanto group, working directly with the CFO and the leadership team.
  • As the company’s sole in-house lawyer, you will independently handle most legal
  • matters and work closely with Sales, Finance, HR, Product / Engineering,
  • Security, and country teams. The quality, practicality, and speed of your
  • advice will have a direct impact on the business.
  • We are looking for someone who understands
  • how a larger company’s legal function operates and is comfortable bringing that
  • experience into a hands-on role without a legal team behind them.

What You Will Do

  • Contracts and Commercial
  • ·Own and maintain contract
  • templates across every region in which Anchanto operates, including APAC, the
  • EU, the UK, the US, India, and the Middle East. Templates include customer
  • agreements, statements of work (SOWs), partner agreements, reseller contracts,
  • and supplier contracts.
  • ·Draft, review, and negotiate
  • enterprise contracts, and participate as part of the deal team for the
  • company’s largest customers. Help shape legal terms for evolving commercial
  • models, including multi-year agreements, usage-based pricing, and service levels
  • for work performed by agents.
  • ·Maintain a central repository
  • of signed agreements that is organised, searchable, and up to date, with key
  • dates and contractual obligations tracked.
  • Compliance and Risk
  • ·Help ensure compliance with
  • applicable data protection and privacy laws, including GDPR, PDPA, India’s DPDP
  • Act, and other relevant requirements. Support customer security audits and
  • certifications such as ISO 27001.
  • ·Partner with Security, IT, HR,
  • Product / Engineering, and other teams to develop and update policies, and
  • deliver practical training that employees can understand and apply.
  • ·Identify legal risks early in
  • deals and projects, advise stakeholders on practical ways to manage or contain
  • those risks, and handle customer and contract disputes, including intellectual
  • property matters.
  • ·Ensure the company’s insurance
  • arrangements align with decisions made by management.
  • AI in Legal and in Our Business
  • ·Use Claude and other AI tools
  • in day-to-day legal work to review contracts, check them against the company’s
  • playbook, search the agreement repository, and prepare first drafts.
  • ·Contribute to building
  • automation and AI-agent initiatives for the legal function, developing
  • workflows that improve efficiency while maintaining appropriate legal review
  • and oversight.
  • ·Advise the Product team on
  • legal issues relating to Anchanto’s own AI offering, including customer data
  • use, liability, intellectual property, and the terms governing AI agents
  • operating within customers’ systems.

What You Bring

  • ·7+ years of legal experience,
  • including at least 4 years in-house at a software, SaaS, or technology company,
  • ideally with 500+ employees or equivalent scale. Previous law-firm experience
  • is a plus.
  • ·Strong command of commercial
  • and technology contracts, including SaaS, licensing, data processing,
  • liability, and intellectual property, with experience negotiating directly with
  • enterprise customers’ legal counsel.
  • ·Working knowledge of data
  • protection laws such as GDPR, PDPA, and India’s DPDP Act, as well as security
  • and compliance audits. Exposure to Singapore, EU, and US law is an advantage.
  • ·Practical fluency with AI
  • tools: already using Claude or a similar tool in daily legal work, able to
  • explain where it performs well and where its output needs to be checked, and
  • motivated to build workflows rather than wait for a tool.
  • ·Comfortable working as a sole
  • contributor—drafting documents, managing filings, and handling both strategic
  • and administrative legal work independently.
  • ·Strong commercial judgement,
  • with the ability to explain what is risky, what is acceptable, and what the
  • company can sign, while providing timely advice when a deal is moving.
  • ·Clear, concise written and
  • spoken English, with the confidence to work directly with the CFO, CEO, and
  • senior customers.
  • ·Based in Pune and comfortable
  • working from the office.
  • What This Role Is Not — and Why Join
  • This role is not suited to someone who
  • wants primarily to manage a legal team, review and delegate work, or send every
  • contract to external counsel. It is not a back-office role: you will be
  • involved in decisions about pricing, customer commitments, and business growth.
  • In return, you will have direct access to
  • the founders and leadership team, genuine ownership of a function at a company
  • undergoing a major shift, and the opportunity to build an AI-first legal
  • practice.
