Risk Specialist - Data and AI

Brisbane, Australia Hybrid Full-time

We’re all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too. As a Risk Specialist - Data, Privacy & AI, you'll support the effective application of our Risk Management Framework across data, privacy and artificial intelligence. Working closely with stakeholders across Risk, Legal, Compliance, Technology and Data teams, you'll help identify, assess, monitor and manage risks while supporting strong governance, assurance and risk-informed decision making.

This is an opportunity to contribute to a growing area of strategic importance. You'll help maintain risk frameworks, coordinate assessments and workshops, monitor controls and key risk indicators, perform assurance activities and provide meaningful insights that support management and governance forums. You'll also stay close to emerging risks, regulatory developments and industry trends to help strengthen ART's approach to data, privacy and AI risk management.

This role is a permanent opportunity and is based in Brisbane or Melbourne.

Day to day, you'll

  • Support the ongoing management and improvement of the Data, Privacy & AI risk framework, registers and governance records.
  • Coordinate risk and control assessments, workshops and treatment plans across a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Monitor key risk indicators, controls and remediation activities, providing timely reporting and insights.
  • Build and maintain risk dashboards, management reporting and governance committee materials.
  • Support assurance activities, control testing and compliance monitoring programs.
  • Track incidents, near misses and remediation actions while identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct research on emerging risks, regulatory changes and industry developments relevant to data, privacy and AI.
  • Develop guidance materials and contribute to risk awareness and capability uplift initiatives across the business.
  • It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:
  • You have experience in risk management, compliance, audit, assurance or control-related roles within a complex or regulated environment.
  • Your background includes exposure to data, technology, privacy, AI governance or operational risk disciplines.
  • You'll bring strong analytical skills and confidence interpreting information, identifying trends and presenting meaningful insights.
  • You're experienced in coordinating stakeholders, facilitating discussions and managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • You have worked with risk registers, controls, incidents, remediation activities or assurance programs.
  • Your written communication skills enable you to produce concise reports and materials for a range of audiences.
  • You'll be confident using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint to analyse information and present findings.
  • You're adaptable, curious and motivated to learn in a rapidly evolving risk and regulatory landscape.
