General Description
The Director, Field Analytics - Hematology will lead field-focused analytics and insight generation for the North America Hematology franchise within the Strategic Field Enablement Center of Excellence. This role will serve as a strategic analytics partner to Hematology Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Commercial Operations, Forecasting, Market Research, Advanced Analytics, and other Global Insights & Analytics partners. The Director will translate complex secondary data and field performance signals into clear business hypotheses, opportunity diagnostics, recommendations, and measurable actions that improve field execution, customer engagement, and commercial performance.
The role is accountable for the Hematology field analytics agenda, including targeting and call planning, sales force effectiveness, territory and account opportunity analytics, subnational performance diagnostics, KPI frameworks, business review insights, launch and portfolio analytics, and ad hoc executive decision support. The Director will move the function beyond reactive reporting by proactively identifying performance drivers, risks, and opportunities; integrating insights across claims, prescription, specialty pharmacy, customer, account, CRM, market research, forecasting, and advanced analytics sources; and ensuring decision-ready recommendations are embedded into commercial planning and field leadership routines.
This is a collaborative leadership role requiring strong oncology and hematology business understanding, hands-on analytical judgment, executive communication, vendor leadership, and the ability to influence across a matrixed organization. The Director may provide project leadership, coaching, and matrixed guidance to internal analysts, external partners, and cross-functional team members.
Essential Functions of the job
- Hematology Field Analytics Strategy and Insight Leadership
- Own and lead the Hematology field analytics strategy and roadmap, aligning analytical priorities to franchise, brand, launch, and field leadership objectives.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to Hematology Sales and Marketing leadership by converting business questions into analytical approaches, hypotheses, success measures, and actionable recommendations.
- Proactively identify subnational opportunities, execution risks, customer and account dynamics, competitive threats, and performance drivers; frame implications and recommended actions for field and home-office leaders.
- Lead analytics supporting the evolving Hematology portfolio, balancing inline performance, new indications, launches, and emerging competitive dynamics.
- Establish clear prioritization, intake, and delivery expectations so team capacity is focused on the highest-value business decisions rather than recurring low-value reporting.
- Field Effectiveness, Targeting and Performance Analytics
- Lead field force targeting, segmentation, call planning, sizing, territory alignment, structural analyses, and ongoing assessment of customer and account coverage.
- Develop and govern Hematology KPI frameworks, performance diagnostics, business review analyses, launch tracking, and field execution insights for weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc leadership discussions.
- Integrate patient, prescription, claims, specialty pharmacy, payer, account, affiliation, CRM, and field activity data to provide a coherent view of market and field performance.
- Partner with Advanced Analytics on predictive targeting, behavioral segmentation, patient and customer journey analytics, next-best-action use cases, and other decision-support capabilities.
- Partner with Field Excellence and Commercial Operations to ensure analytical recommendations are translated into usable field processes, CRM requirements, reporting tools, and adoption plans.
- Partner with Incentive Compensation leadership on analytical inputs and performance diagnostics while maintaining clear ownership boundaries between field analytics and incentive plan administration.
- Cross-Functional Leadership and Decision Support
- Synthesize secondary analytics with market research, forecasting, competitive intelligence, market access, digital, and advanced analytics to create integrated, decision-ready narratives.
- Lead analytics contributions to Insights-to-Action meetings, QBRs, launch readiness reviews, annual operating planning, territory planning, and other senior leadership forums.
- Communicate complex methods, caveats, data-quality considerations, and findings with clarity; distinguish directional signals from decision-grade evidence.
- Collaborate with data, technology, privacy, legal, compliance, and governance partners to ensure data use, analytical methods, reporting, and field-facing outputs meet applicable standards.
- Select and lead external analytics partners, define scopes and quality expectations, manage delivery, and ensure knowledge transfer and sustainable internal capability.
- Build trusted relationships with regional and national field leaders, marketing, market access, medical, and GIA partners; ensure stakeholder feedback informs the analytics roadmap without displacing enterprise priorities.
- Capability Building and Operational Excellence
- Establish repeatable analytical standards, documentation, quality controls, and reusable frameworks that improve consistency, speed to insight, and confidence in decisions.
- Coach analysts and partners on problem framing, analytical rigor, insight generation, executive storytelling, and translation of findings into action.
- Continuously improve the Hematology analytics operating model, including use of automation, business intelligence, SQL-based analysis, and scalable reporting approaches.
- Demonstrate leadership courage by setting boundaries, escalating material data or decision risks, and ensuring resources are deployed against the most critical and highest-value work.
