Responsibilities
The Global Payment Tech team is the core engine powering ByteDance's global payment and financial services, spanning payment acquiring, wallets, financial products, insurance, and foreign exchange for users and merchants worldwide.
We span engineering, data, and AI, building high-concurrency, highly available systems across multi-currency, multi-market complexity, and embedding AI into risk control, credit decisioning, and operations automation.
You will grow cross-disciplinary expertise at the intersection of payments, finance, and AI.
About the Team
Our team is responsible for providing ByteDance's global users and merchants with a first-class payment experience by building a strong and robust infrastructure and platform to support fast product iteration and key feature development. Global Payments powers payment capabilities across multiple ByteDance international business lines. In our team, you'll have the opportunity to take part in developing key payment features, understand how payments support products serving billions of users, and gain first-hand experience of how user and transaction needs vary across global markets. As a Fullstack Software Engineer on the Global Payments team, you will:
- Own fullstack development for the Global Payments business, building and continuously improving high-performance, highly available payment products and systems.
- Work closely with our product team to conceptualize, develop, and launch new and innovative features.
- Design, architect and implement well-tested client and web systems that power ByteDance's global payment experience.
- Drive ongoing performance optimization to improve the stability of payment flows and the user experience.
- Promote robust and maintainable code, clear documentation, and deliver high-quality work on a tight schedule.
Minimum Qualification(s)
- Individuals who are completing or have recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in at least one backend language (e.g. Java, Go, Python) and frontend technologies (e.g. JavaScript/TypeScript, React or Vue)
- Ability to understand and debug large and complex code bases
- Good team communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualification(s)
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field, with fullstack development experience
- Strong understanding of software development principles, with experience in distributed systems, database design and performance optimization
- Experience building payment, financial or transaction systems
- Passion and experience building consumer-facing products is a huge plus; we would love to hear about products or projects you've built!
