Operating with significant autonomy, the role partners closely with the Director, Financial Systems and collaborates across finance operations, accounting, revenue, AR, FP&A, and technology teams to define requirements, prioritize initiatives, and deliver impactful system enhancements.
The role requires advanced knowledge of financial systems and a broad understanding of finance operations disciplines including revenue recognition, billing, AR, and GL. The Product Manager serves as the expert resource on financial systems product capabilities and is the go-to partner for resolving moderate-to-complex systems issues. The role leads multiple concurrent product initiatives, influences product decisions, and communicates outcomes clearly to cross-functional audiences including finance leadership.
The Product Manager supports the Director in driving the financial systems strategy aligned to firm-wide finance goals.
Product Strategy and Roadmap
Own and manage the financial systems product roadmap, aligning priorities to the needs of Finance operations teams (Revenue, AR, GL, FP&A) and broader firm goals.
Partner with the Director, Financial Systems to define and evolve the multi-year systems strategy; translate strategic objectives into actionable roadmap items and delivery milestones.
Conduct ongoing discovery with finance stakeholders to identify pain points, inefficiencies, and opportunities for system enhancement or automation.
Evaluate build-vs-buy decisions and present recommendations to the Director and finance leadership, supported by data and business case analysis.
Stay current on financial systems technology trends (ERP modernization, automation, AI-enabled finance tools); recommend relevant innovations to the Director.
Product Delivery and Execution
Lead end-to-end delivery of financial systems initiatives, from requirements gathering and user story development through testing, deployment, and post-launch review.
Maintain and prioritize the product backlog across multiple concurrent workstreams; partner with technology teams to plan sprints and releases aligned to finance operational calendars.
Oversee the configuration, enhancement, and optimization of Oracle ERP modules supporting contracts, projects, billing events, revenue events, and related financial workflows.
Ensure system changes meet quality, compliance, and audit standards; maintain thorough documentation of requirements, decisions, and configurations.
Manage vendor relationships and technology partners; serve as the primary business contact for system implementations, upgrades, and support escalations.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Change Management
Serve as the primary liaison between Finance operations teams and technology; translate complex business needs into clear system requirements and communicate technical outcomes in accessible terms.
Represent the Financial Systems team in cross-functional meetings and working groups; build and maintain strategic relationships with peers and leaders across Finance, Accounting, FP&A, and Technology.
Lead change management efforts for system rollouts, including stakeholder communication, training coordination, and adoption tracking.
Communicate product performance, initiative status, and system risks clearly to the Director, finance leadership, and other stakeholders; adapt messaging for diverse audiences.
Support the Director in preparing materials for senior finance leadership, including the Controller and CFO, as needed.
Team Leadership and Development
- Mentor junior analysts or business analysts supporting financial systems initiatives; provide guidance, share expertise, and create development opportunities.
- Act as the expert resource for the team on financial systems capabilities, product management practices, and Oracle ERP functionality.
- Serve as a leader in managing cross-functional team dynamics and resolving conflicts constructively to keep initiatives on track.
- Contribute to workforce planning and team capability development in partnership with the Director.
