A little about the role

As Senior Credit Assurance Officer, you will provide independent oversight across Capricorn’s credit portfolio, helping ensure credit decisions, controls and processes align with policy, risk appetite and regulatory obligations.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role with no direct reports. Alongside day-to-day assurance operations, you will establish practical targets, reporting and triage approaches, improve data quality, and review workflows to support consistent and timely outcomes across a high-volume environment.

You will analyse portfolio performance, lead risk-based assurance reviews and identify control or compliance issues requiring action. Working across Credit, Operations, Debt Recovery, Sales, Product, Operational Risk and Compliance, you will translate findings into clear recommendations and lead business improvements that strengthen governance, operational efficiency and credit quality.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for an experienced credit risk or assurance specialist who can combine rigorous analysis and sound judgement with hands-on operational leadership and a practical improvement mindset.

What’sessential

At least seven years’ experience in credit risk, credit assessment, assurance, audit, compliance, banking, financial services or a related discipline.

Demonstrated experience conducting assurance reviews, audits, quality programs or risk-based assessments.

Strong capability in analysing credit portfolio performance, complex data and emerging risk trends, and developing clear, actionable insights.

Proven experience improving processes, governance, controls, reporting and operational efficiency in a high-volume environment.

Advanced knowledge of credit risk assessment, portfolio management, governance, compliance and assurance frameworks.

Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and communication skills, including presenting findings and risk-based recommendations to senior leaders.

Technical leadership, mentoring or coaching experience, with the ability to improve capability and consistency without formal people-management responsibility.

Highly regarded

Professional qualifications or certifications in Credit Management, Risk Management, Internal Audit, Compliance, Accounting or Financial Services.

Membership of a recognised professional body relevant to risk, audit, finance or credit management.

Experience supporting audit, remediation, system enhancement, automation or process optimisation initiatives.

Experience developing products and partnerships that improve customer, member or supplier value in a mutual, membership or network-based organisation.

A bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Economics or a related discipline is preferred. Formal qualifications or training in product management, commercial management or financial management will be highly regarded.
