Meet the Team
Want to shape how thousands of customers connect to Splunk Cloud? Traffic Engineering Infrastructure (TEI) owns the Layer 3 and Layer 4 network that links customers, internal teams, and cloud providers to Splunk Enterprise Cloud across AWS, GCP, Azure, and GovCloud. All customer data and search traffic flows over the network we build, which makes our work foundational to Splunk Cloud. We're a close-knit, collaborative team of five engineers who tackle hard problems together, value balance, and enjoy what we do. Right now we're turning a queue of manual network requests into a self-service platform, and we'd love your help leading the way!
Your Impact
Set the long-term technical direction for our connectivity platform, from architecture to build vs. buy decisions such as how we deliver IP address management. Write the services, APIs, and infrastructure as code that provision VPCs, VNETs, load balancers, private endpoints, and transit, so customers connect through self-service instead of waiting on hand-built changes. Lead our largest initiatives, from self-service provisioning to forward-looking network architecture that keeps our platform ready for future growth.
Mentor engineers through code reviews, design feedback, pairing, and coaching, and shape our standards for code quality, testing, and observability. Take part in our weekly on-call rotation, bringing technical judgment to customer incidents and fixing root causes for good to reduce toil for the whole team.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors + 8 years of related experience, or Masters + 6 years of related experience, or PhD + 3 years of related experience.
- Experience building and operating large-scale production systems in Go and/or Python.
- Experience with Layer 3 and Layer 4 networking (IP routing, CIDR design, NAT, TCP and UDP, load balancing, and TLS) and with cloud networking in AWS, GCP, or Azure (VPCs or VNETs, route tables, security groups, transit gateways, and private endpoints).
- Experience building infrastructure as code with Terraform at scale, including reusable modules and CI/CD with safe promotion to production.
- Experience leading major technical initiatives and influencing engineering direction beyond your immediate team.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with multi-cloud transit and hybrid connectivity, such as AWS Cloud WAN, Transit Gateway, Aviatrix, BGP, Direct Connect, Cloud Interconnect, or IPsec VPN.
Experience with private connectivity services such as AWS PrivateLink, GCP Private Service Connect, or Azure Private Link.
Experience with IP address management at scale, using NetBox or a purpose-built service, and with IPv6 dual-stack design, including BYOIP.
Experience with Kubernetes in production or with regulated environments such as GovCloud, FedRAMP, or DoD IL5.
Strong communication and mentoring skills, with a track record of growing engineers across levels and explaining complex networking topics to engineers and executives alike
