Encentive Energy

Product Designer (f/m/d)

Hamburg, Germany Hybrid Full-time

At encentive , we’re building flexOn - an intelligent energy management system that uses AI to control industrial assets. We collect real-time data from equipment, predict operational behavior, combine it with external factors (such as weather and energy prices), and optimize energy use to reduce both costs and CO2 emissions. We shape the future of energy: What matters won’t just be using less energy, but using it at the right time!

This enables the best possible integration of volatile renewable power from wind and solar. With our AI-powered flexOn platform, we help industrial electricity consumers actively increase flexibility, using power precisely when it’s greenest and most cost-effective. Our goal is to accelerate the decarbonization of the energy system while significantly lowering energy costs for our customers. As a Product Designer (f/m/d), you'll work across flexOn and our supporting tools.

Your design will help customers, partners, and internal teams set up assets, understand optimization results, and adjust how equipment is operated. Understand real workflows. Talk directly to customers and internal users, observe how they work, and identify where design can remove friction. Validate ideas through interviews, prototypes, and usability testing. Own design from discovery to delivery. Turn open questions into clear concepts, testable prototypes, and polished interfaces.

Help scope solutions, resolve edge cases, and work with engineers through implementation. Make complex systems understandable. Design clear ways to explore energy data, configure assets, and interpret optimization results—with thoughtful information architecture, visualizations, and interactions. Design for trust and control. Help users understand forecasts and automated decisions, recognize uncertainty, set operational boundaries, and intervene when needed.

Use AI to explore and test ideas faster. Build AI-assisted workflows for research, concept exploration, and interactive prototyping. Critically assess outputs and use sensitive information responsibly. Strengthen our shared design foundations. Evolve our design system with design and engineering, including reusable components, accessible interactions, and consistent patterns across products. Evaluate what changes for users.

Define success together with product and engineering, then use research, usage data, and customer feedback to improve what we ship. Success could mean users completing a setup with less assistance, correctly understanding optimization results, or recovering from a data error without contacting support. Experience taking digital products from problem to launch , typically gained through 3+ years in product design. Your portfolio shows your reasoning, contribution, and what you learned after shipping.

Strong interaction and visual design skills. You can structure complex workflows and information, create polished interfaces, and apply accessibility principles to charts, forms, and system feedback. Practical research and testing skills. You choose methods that fit the question and use evidence to challenge assumptions and improve designs. Confidence with Figma and design systems , including interactive prototypes, reusable components, and close collaboration with engineers.

Hands-on experience with AI-assisted design and prototyping. You’ve built interactive experiences people can test and can explain how you assessed, edited, or rejected AI output. Sound product judgment and technical curiosity. You work through ambiguity, explain trade-offs, and want to understand how AI, data, and industrial systems shape the user experience—including where automation needs transparency or human control.

Strong German and English communication skills , enabling you to conduct customer interviews in German and collaborate in an international team. Helpful, but not required: Experience with B2B software, data-heavy applications, AI-powered products, or industrial systems. Coding skills for prototyping are a plus. You don’t need to arrive as an energy expert. AI Meets Industry: The Next Big Thing Real Impact: From day one, you’ll make a tangible contribution to the fight against climate change Entrepreneurial Freedom: Flat hierarchies, maximum responsibility, and creative freedom.
