Legal Counsel

Location: Taipei - No. 77, Songgao Rd., Xinyi Dist.

The purpose of this role is to assist the legal team by providing basic legal support to local brands and functional departments within the group and sharing the workload of the legal team. Experience and exposure through these tasks allow the candidate to develop the key skills required to become a legal practitioner.

Key responsibilities

• Undertakes legal research
• Undertakes negotiation, review, drafting and management of contracts of the companies and departments assigned by the line manager
• Provides legal opinion and possible solutions to the actual and potential disputes
• Deals with the legal and administrative affairs with respect to the company registration.
• Supports implementation of best-practices in compliance, contract management, intellectual property, and data protection
• Co-works with other senior members and supports specific cross-brands projects assigned by the line managers
• Develops and delivers training, and legal risk management initiatives, to assist management in strategically managing legal risks (e.g. business training, legal updates, regulatory newsletters, etc.)
• Participates in the legal department’s marketing and networking strategies as directed

Capabilities & Requirement

• 5 years’ experience of legal practice, experience in law firms would be a plus.
• Fluent in English reading and writing. Experience in dealing with contracts in English would be a plus.
• Ability and willingness to join teamwork and provide timely assistance to other team members
• Familiarity with intellectual property laws would be a plus
